Larkin, wishing you all the best for this week as you approach and have your surgery. Smooth sailing through the process. Looking forward to reading about your adventures when you are up to posting after surgery. Hugs, Kathy

Hail and Well Met to One and All !!!

To all of my weight-loss brothers and sisters, I can only say ... well ... uhm ... &%#@ ... I forgot what I was planing to quote.  I know it was something really great, kinda profound, but not too stuffy.  The type of thing that would have stuck with you as inspiration for all of the hard times to come.

Oh well, I guess you can all just make up something yourselves and attribute it to me ... I'm ok with that.  Just be sure to make it something good.

Starting a new phase in my life
on December 8, 2009 5:34 pm
This is my first blog post here or any where, but I figure it is a good place to start...

I have now passed the last hurdle for my RNY surgery!!!

First I had to get my diabetes under control (a long and painful process).  Then get a letter of medical necessity from my doctor, prove a 5 year history of morbid obesity, and see a shrink and a dietician. Finally, I had to get the gastric-bypass clearance, then pulmonary clearance, and see a cardiologist (who put me on high-blood pressure medicine).

After all of this (which took a year and a half), my doctor tells me I need to lose 14 lbs before surgery or it is a no go.  He states this on Nov 19, and my surgery is scheduled for Dec 16.  On his advice, I go HARD low-carb to lose the weight  a quickly as possible.

As of my weigh in yesterday, I have lost 18 lbs!  This means I'm a go for surgery next Wednesday!!!
