Today is the day it all begins.... YAY!!

Mar 24, 2009

Went back to the docs today for the results of my bloodwork. No diabetes, high cholesterol or anything! Im so happy about that! Im still considered morbidly obese so the doctor said there is still a high chance of approval due to me literally being double my required weight. So she said if this is something I want to do she is going to submit the paperwork to my insurance company!!!! I guess this is the waiting game now... So is this how it works? Submit paperwork to be approved FIRST? Get approved THEN meet with the surgeon? Are these the steps? Lol I thought I would have to meet with the surgeon first lol My doc was so sweet, since I was so worried about the outcome 7-10yrs down the line she said she hasnt seen anyone with complications except one person who had an issue with B-12 but all she has to do is take shots of B-12 and the other thing is again people gaining back the weight. She says she really wants me to be commited to this and she was like I can see you participating in a triathalon however u spell it Me? In a triathalon? Hmm... We will have to see lol till next time folks!

Thinking.. Worrying to much Maybe?

Mar 22, 2009

So.. Im sitting here doing a lot of research on GBS and im starting to see a lot of negative things surrrounding this surgery. I mean its great seeing peoples before and after photos but almost all of the people I see have only had it 10m to a year. What happens when you stop losing weight?? I want to meet people 7-10+ yrs out. All of those people I met have either gained the weight back or have had complications from surgery years after! (Mal-Nurishment, Popping stomach seams) Im reading stories where peoples labs werent quite right and the PCP have missed it.. Vitamin deficiancy... I dont even know what vitamins to take! Im sure the nutritionist will tell me, im just worried about if its the right ones or not.  I really want to do this but I dont want this to be a "quick fix" for a few years and then spiral down hill. Im also worried about the hair loss I have very thin hair and im only 23 I dont want to be bald!! Should I start taking these vitamins now? Kind of to prevent this? I dont know! Also im being told to req copies of all my labs I dont even know how to read my labs! Maybe im just freaking out from all the research im doing.. Is there anyone out there who has any opinions/advice? I need help!!

Docs Appt. 3/16/08

Mar 16, 2009

So... My 1st docs appt in almost 2 years! It was mainly routine. After having a long discussion with my weight. (I think I was talking entirely to much) I mentioned GBS and the doc suprisingly went along with it! I might be suffering from sleep apnea also I need to do a sleep study not sure what that consists of. Im going in for bloodwork tomorrow to make sure my weight gain is not stemming from anywhere else. I am so happy although I have a long road ahead of me... So bloodwork tomorrow 10am then if all checks out fine then continuing on to my journey towards weight loss bliss!!! I was told that 50% of her patients keep the weight off, then the other 50% eat through their stomach and gain again. Isnt that crazy? I mean why would you give up such a jumpstart just for some fries and a burger?? In my opinion I feel like it would be a boost and give me the drive to strive for a longer life you know? She also mentioned while she was checking my tummy that I might need some plastics done after the surgery... hmmm wondering if shes hinting that she might give me a referral? lol I fuckin wish anywho I told her I will drop smoking once we get the ball rolling on this thing. So.. Now we wait :) Wish me luck!!
Mommy and DaughterMyself on this lovely day
