Surgeon Testimonial

David Kim
I first came across the Live Life Again Center for Bariatrics through an online search. Their website is great but it is the testimonies and informative videos that really inspired me to move forward. I felt that Dr. David Kim was very understanding to the discrimination that overweight people endure day in day out. He was up front and was real about the procedures and what he expects from you as a patient. It made me nervous that I might not be able to \"live\" under those obligations not to Dr. Kim but to the surgery. Dr. Kim's staff Shelly in particular was very encouraging that it sounds harder than it really is. If we have lived a portion of our lives overweight at all and have survived the ridicule and looks then the requirements of the surgery after life is a drop in the bucket so to speak. The great thing about Dr. Kim's Practice is that they offer wonderful \"university classes\" to inform the patient all about their procedure and what they will need to do to be successful after surgery. The after care that is offered is wonderful too. There is plenty of support and they offer once a month support groups and they also offer get togethers for things such as playing the Wii or even just working out together. I would give Dr. Kim and his staff a 9 out of 10 rating just because of the treatment, information, and support that is offered alone. I personally feel that surgical competence trumps bedside manner however this is an emotional decision and change so therefore bedside manner carries a little more considering this choice. So even though I believe surgical competence trumps it, bedside manner is ONLY a fraction behind.

Buh Bye 2011, Lets Do This 2012!
posted on 1/1/12 9:18 pm
Alright so 2011 is officially in the history books, lets reflect and talk about it a moment. 2011 was bitter sweet in many aspects. I had plateaued on my weight for approx 8 months ... I was bouncing between 220-225 ... and then one day BOOM 30 lbs went adios!! I not only met my goal of 199 lbs I beat it!! I got down to 194 lbs. I was beginning to mold out some muscularity :) ... so in that regard I am super super pleased! I did a decent amount of traveling visiting Houston, New Orleans, Arkansas, and managed 4 trips to Colorado!! I love the state of Colorado!! I made two offers on two different vacation log cabins in Colorado, technically 3 but each had a reason that fell thru, but I'm still on the search. I went Extreme Downhill Mountain Biking at Trestle, in Winter Park .... LOVED IT!! I did not wreck and I pushed the envelope outside of my comfort zone a few times ... all about the confidence right :) .... I put in an application to Aurora FD but that is as far as I took that. Something unexpected happened and it had hurt me, but thats all I'm gonna give to that topic. BUT I guess these things opened me up for more amazing friendships that I typically may not of ever met but need the support. I met some great great people at NOLA, one that I followed up with and has been such a HUGE encourager and supporter that I've decided to make the decision to give back to OH and the WLS community by doing their Leadership Training to become a Co-Leader with her of an OH Support Group. Please check out her group Fitter Healthier Happier her energy is contagious!! You'll love it!! Near the end of the year I met couple more awesome people, that have rejuvenated that "new" feeling I've been needing to spring to my new commitments. One was an unexpected girl that had plastics done ... dealt with ridicule from that and just has risen above and adapted to her environment, she helped me especially through a struggle of bad news I got just a couple weeks before Christmas that my dad has Stage 3 cancer (please pray / think / meditate on him if you think about it). She is about to be and do amazing things, so watch out for her, she is rich with inspiration! Thank you btw for being there for me! Did I mention she was super cute too? ha ha  Also a guy emailed me building me up on my success and had huge heavy questions and I flashed back to seeing myself as him only 2 years prior wondering and wanting to ask the same things. So I wanted to make sure I took time out and talked to him. We exchanged quite a few emails and I hope he knows he has set a fire in me just as much as I have encouraged him. He reminded me that people do "see" me ... notice my successes and instead of these half way ridiculous "self" shots that they are serving as "inspiration" in his words .... So thank you man!! I'll holla at ya!! A couple of highlights that I distinctly remember was that mountain biking trip to CO that I already talked about but I also summit my FIRST 14'er!!! I summit Pike's Peak, and now I want to climb as many 14er's in Colorado as I possibly can!! And the Halloween trip to Colorado. I was a mafia guy but I was in the company of my cousin and 4 of her girlfriends, all gorgeous and all dressed as sexy devils .... so instead of me looking like a mafia guy I ended up looking more like a pimp ... LOL ... we went club hoping in downtown CO Springs and it was a BLAST ... got my dance on, got my ass grabbed TWICE! lol ... fun times!!

Ok aspirations for 2012!!

First I need to log my stinkin food! ... I did that for almost a year and I should have never stopped. Next drink more water!! I also want to try skiing in Colorado!! But I have 3 MAJOR things I'm anticipating this year. 1) Buy a Colorado Vacation Cabin, 2) Start back at school and finish out my degree 3) Study to promote to Lieutenant and make it!!! I cant wait to get through the Leadership Training and brainstorming with my good friend at FHH about the group!! I have many ideas, I probably should write them down. I plan on doing more traveling ... was thinking of possibly hiking a volcano ... we'll have to see ... and that leads me into some crazy thoughts that I might try and tackle ... like SKYDIVING!! I also thought about just idiotically signing up and run a marathon, I'd probably train for it ... but you know ... running isn't my forte really anymore ... but I'm not doing anything "normal" anymore. By the way I'm loving this new outlook on life. A second chance if you will. I'm so energetic about going and doing and wanting others to feel special and great and feel as bright as I do!! My favorite time of the day is the morning and opening the blinds up letting the sun hit your face, cup of coffee, and absorbing that energy off gassing from the sun!! Try it, I think you'll like it too!! Ask me anything or comment!! YALL HAVE A WONDERFUL 2012!!!
