Surgeon Testimonial

James K. Weber M.D.
Dr. Weber is very professional, warm, and personable. He always remembers me and my status, he even remembers my kids! His office is very comfortable. He is very informative, he goes through each step one at a time. He is a wonderful doctor/surgeon.rnrnI did however have complications that were out of his hands and I required an emergency surgery three days after my roux-en-y. He was there and ready, offering my husband and myself all the comfort possible at such a scary time. He is very impressive.

My Story

The next day I went in for surgery. Everything went surprizingly well.  I was up and walking laps around the nurses station an hour after.  I was in less pain than I had imagined.  I was relived.

Anyway, I cried so hard that I developed complicaions.  Despite the success of the first surgery, the stress from sobbing and the disappointment in someone who is supposed to be an adult family member (more than twice my age btw), I ended up sick and in pain, and waiting for help.

By Saturday morning at about 10am, Mike and I both thought I was dying.  I was in severe pain... throwing up blood... having hot and cold flashes... sweating in a freezing room.  The surgeon rushed in and informed us that I was going in for emercency surgery.  I went in for my second surgery at about noon.

My bowel had ruptured up though my small intestine and was being cut off from its blood supply.  Nothing could pass through my digestive system, so I was throwing everything up.  Two feet of my bowel was almost lost, but my wonderful surgeon saved it and me.

I woke up in so much pain.  I was exhausted.  I was weak.  I couldnt catch my breath.  The second surgery was soo much harder on me.  It took me two weeks with sooo much help to recover.  I am still recovering, but doing much better.

I wasnt allowed to eat or drink anything for 15 days!!  My hospital stay went from 4 days to 8 days!  I had to be fed through a PICC Line in my arm for over a week, aftre I went home.  It was a nightmare.  I couldnt even wipe my own butt!

It has now been 4 months and I am doing fabulously.  I am dealing with our third CPS call, thanks mom, but doing well.  CPS is starting to get to know us, kinda ironic.  I am down 82lbs, and have gone from a size 28 to a size 20!!!  I feel wonderful and I have sooooo much more self confidence.  I know it is only going to get better from here.  I am able to be active again.

I am starting the process of writing a book about my life, seeing as how I grew up with this kind of drama.

I am currently on Paxil, for the lack of food as a comfort... and flexeril for my continuing back pain.

My husband and I are stronger than ever!  He has been so much of a support.  I couldnt have done any of this without him.  From wiping my butt when i couldnt reach, right aftre surgery... to helping me watch what i eat now... he has done it all.

 Love to all!!

XOXO  Sara
