Surgeon Testimonial

Earl Noyan, MD
I really liked my surgeon when I met him for the first time. He let me ask questions and never hesitated on answering any of them. His office staff is also amazing and they are down to earth. They were laughing along with me. I know a patient of his already and when she recommended Dr. Noyan to me she was very pleased with him also and she has had her surgery done almost a year now and gone back for fills over that time. He has a great support group and also believes in helping his patients if he sees them start to slip up in their progress.

I got my Revision ... Round 2
on December 12, 2012 4:29 pm

A week ago today I had surgery to get my lapband out and gastric bypass.  Surgery day 1 was a little rough.  I didn't come out of surgery as peachy as I did for my lapband.  I had a hard time with nausea and I kept my eyes closed and a cold rag on my head. I don't know if it was the gas in my stomach or what but I felt so sick.  I did vomit in Recovery blood and it hurt my belly when contracting to get it up.    I slept the night all druged up and then the next morning bring and shiney at 8ooam the transport was there  picking me up for my Upper GI.  I went there and vomiting again so was sent back to my room.  All day I wa  s put on hold , no water.  They told me I would be going for another UGI in the morning.  When the Dr. came in the next morning he said I wouldn't have to do it.  I was started on 30cc of water an hr for 8 hrs.  I did that all day and walked my ass off.  I walked so much around that hospital to get the gas out of me.  I also asked to decrease the pain meds from 2 to 1mg dialudid because I felt like a zombie. By saturday morning I felt great.  I didn't  have the pain just a little sore in the belly.  I was so ready to go home.  They finally discharged me after watching me eat some jello and broth.

I am so happy to finally be done with the lap band and start my journey with RNY I lost 12 lbs already and it's just the begining.

So I am having a revision ... I am gong from LapBand to RNY .  I have had alot of trouble with my band in the last few years.  I won't get into details but I had it slip twice.  The second time my surgeon and I decided to take it out.  I am sad to loose my band because it helped me loose alot of weight that I now have gain back :( but in a new sense I am glad to start my weightloss journey again hopefully without complications this time.  I have a date already and I am approved it's 12-5-2012 less then a week away and I am nervous but very excited.  Here we go again....

Over 1 Yr and 3 months out!!!
on June 30, 2010 2:02 pm

I have been out of surgery over a year and some odd months and I am down officially 60lbs.  I am so happy about that I don't really try too hard to loose weight.  I eat way less and I feel full so easily.  I haven't had a fill since Jan. and I don't think I am going to get one anytime soon.  I would NEVER change my decision for getting surgery and which surgery I did choose to get.  I am not too limited in what I can eat, I didn't have any complications, and I still can have a piece of cake if I want it for my birthday.  I am 203 lbs right now approching OnderLand and so excited about that.  I have never had any regrets about my decision.  I don't have a goal weight at this point I just think when I get there I will get there and feel like that's the weight I want to be.  Well I will keep you posted :)  Good luck to everyone else...

XO Nicole

*7 months out*

Sooo I went for another Dr appointment last week and seen the new doctor in the practice and really wasn't head over heals in love with him... if ya catch my drift.  My weight on their scale was 230 lbs which is 34lbs down from my beginning weight.  I seen the nutritionist and she told me I lost 9inches in my waist... so that is the reason why my pants size went DowN! yeahh!!  Ohh she also told me EAT MORE... I hear this all the time but didn't I get the band to EAT LESS??  She wants at least 5oz of protein and 1 cup of veggies each meal... I can get in about 3oz protein and 1/4 veg and that just ain't enought and could be slowing down my weightloss.  Also she wants me to go to the gym and do 2 or 3 classes a week so I tried a SPIN class today which was not that bad and I'm gonna try to keep up with it.  On the days I don't go there I am going to be walking/trying to jog at least 2miles.  My soon-to-be DH said he wants to start doing it with me so that's exciting he's really one to push me.  Ohhh well I will keep you posted!!! I didn't get a fill this time I am at 8cc's and I still have things that get stuck !!

Have a great one!!

Almost 6 months out!!

Sooo last time I blogged was like a week ago after I went to the Dr.'s well since then I seemed to be able to loose weigh accually I surprised myself and lost about 4 or 5 lbs in a weeks time.  I think I might be at my sweet spot at this point if my band doesn't changed over the next few weeks.  I eat very little, if I don't chew I get the food stuck, plus I stay full.  Ohh and now I can't even try to drink with my meals cause if screws everything up and will ruin my meal totally.  I feel as if sometimes my band is tighter than others more so at night time.  I dont' know if that makes sence but that's what it feels like.  I am blogging because I am soo happy cause last week after the doctor's I was feeling a little upset and now it seems like maybe my body is catching up to my eating habits.

My Story

I am 25 years old and from Toms River NJ.  I started looking into surgery a year ago but never really seriously because I really was afraid of all the things that come along with it ...example needles, pain, and surgery in general.  I guess somewhere deep down inside I always thought I could do it, I could go on a diet and accually loose weight.  I didn't want to be the fat girl any longer but everytime I tried it seemed like it would work for the first 2 weeks to a month and then... yeahh and thenn.... well ya think I would have learned it wasn't going to work.

I would try different diets, more and more cardio, going to gyms with trainors, lemon diets, pills, and of course the faithful weightwatchers in which I always would get discouraged and end up donating to them because I would never show up.  Each time it was always the same you need to eat more, more frequently, maybe it's your lifestyle ( I work nights in a emergency room) so maybe your just not working at it hard enough.  I guess people don't realize sometimes it's not only the failure of the person, but the failure in the diet plan.

Finally I got seriously annoyed with just gainning back more and more weight everytime I finished the new weightloss trick and really started looking into the Lap Band procedure.  A friend of mine jumped on the trail with me and with her help and support we both made appointments to see a surgeon.  Our first appointment was Jan. 20th 2009 and he told us we both did qualify for the banding procedure now all we have to do is go see the 3 specialist.  So now that's where I'm at in my journey.

UPDATE:  It's December 2012 and I have went on a rollor coaster for the last 4 years.  I am about 1 week post-op from having my lap band removed and having the gastric bypass.  I had two different band slips in the last 2 years and I gained back all the lost weight and then a few lbs.  So here I am now... on to round 2.
