3 month follow up
on September 20, 2011 7:32 pm
So today I had my 3 month follow up and I got a clean bill of health. Doc says my Vitamin A levels were a lil low but nothing to worry about!  I'm down 59.9lbs according to there scale but according to my scale I'm down 65lbs ( I only wear my undies at home LoL) so I'm sticking with my own figures! LoL  But anyway I'm pleased with my results thus far and hope that I can make it to Onederland by the end of the year!  I posted 12 week pics   I'm super excited that my size 20's are  getting too big YEAH!!!

Rough Day
on August 10, 2011 12:39 pm
Today I experienced something that Ive never experienced before. I was eating my breakfast this morning (oatmeal & a banana) and as I was eating all of a sudden I got the feeling in my chest like the food was stuck there. So I attempted to stroke my chest like helping it to go down but with no success. Ass of a sudden it became painful I felt as if I needed to burp even had a friend trying to burp me (lol I know sounds funny) but it only made it worse. After 10 mins of pacing the floor in pain with continuous foamy burps I finally vomited. I felt a lot better but still a lil uneasy. I contacted the Bariatic Clinic immediately and spoke with Dietitian she asked if I was eating too fast or if the oatmeal was too thick and I dont think it was either of those things but who knows. So she asked me to take a sip of water of which I did, it went down but made me burp instantly and still a lil discomfort. So she told me to wait 45 min then to have another sip and call her back to let her know what happened so I did and it went down fine. She told me to only do clear liquids and protein shakes (without milk) for the rest of the day and try again tomorrow. She told me that if anything doesn't feel right tomorrow to call and they will get me in right away to have ex-rays done to make sure nothing else is going on! Scary .....my boyfriend is flippin out and now Im kinda scared to eat anything. My friend was thinking it was a hietal hernia I pray its not! So we'll see what happens tomorrow........

Excited
on August 1, 2011 9:33 pm
Today was an exciting  day for me my weigh in day and I hit the 40lb mark
I also started back working out today its been 6 weeks since Ive been in the gym and although I only walked on the treadmill it felt good to be back at it, I guess you gotta start somewhere. I'm looking forward to hitting the weights again soon once I get clearance from my doctor!

My Story

My name is Sherika, I am 33 years old and have been over weight all of my life. I struggled with being overweight during my early years in school, but somewhere between middle and high school  gained some self esteem and began to embrace the skin I was in. I have always been very active and did everything that all the other kids in school did including being in the marching band, other sports and prom. I love to dance and even though Ive always been heavy could dance circles around many skinny folks! LoL  My philosophy was that we all couldnt be thin and even tried to motivate other heavy women to embrace the skin they were in too!
It wasnt until about 5 years ago that I every really put myself on a diet. My older sister who was in her mid 30s at the time was diagnosed with diabetes and had many complications including amputations. So I made up in my mind that I was going to loose weight because diabetes runs heavily on both sides of my family and I didnt want to get it. So I went through a program called Medical Weight Loss and I did really good with it loosing about 90lbs. After loosing the weight I did really good for a year but after starting grad school my weight gradually began to inch back up and I really struggled with yo-yo dieting and between that and the stress of grad school it really began to take a toll on me physically. I struggle with knee pain of which was very minimal when I lost weight before. So here I am determined to take my life and my health back. I had the sleeve gastrectomy on June 28, 2011 HW- 350 in 2006/ SW-306
