Surgeon Testimonial

Matthew D. Davidson, M.D
First impression of Dr. Davidson was a favorable one. He was down to earth taking the time to explain what to expect prior, during and after the surgery. He clearly explained all risks and communicated percentages for his practice versus that of national average. The surgery itself was clearly explained and all questions answered. His presence was known throughout the hospital stay beginning with pre-op and continuing throughout the hospital stay. There is a structured aftercare plan and monthly support group meetings. Overall, I would highly recommend him.

The office staff..well...that is another story. I wouldn't use the term "warm and fuzzy" by any means to describe them. Throughout my dealings with them, I have been continually amazed at their lack of professionalism. They seem to be friendly with one another but the smile stops there. They were not overly pleasant. There were several times that either myself or my husband could not get a return call from them. Additionally, there were times that we were told that paperwork had been submitted only to find out when we called about it, the paperwork was just then being done. (the insurance company verified this suspicion) We tolerated what we perceived as incompetance in them because of our strong confidence in Dr. Davidson and our desire to have him do our sugeries.

June 17, 2008
Long time, no post!  Sorry!  Things have been incredibly insane here on this end with a number of things going on.  First I am on leave from my job.  I have been in Gettysburg for the last several weeks caring for an uncle with cancer and an aunt with Altheimer's (sp?) Needless to say all of my routines with my eating and exercising have gone to the wayside.  I hope to be back on track soon.

Now while I have always been one to weigh in every day I haven't been able to do that recently so I was surprised to see when I weighed this morning that I was at 165.  I couldn't believe it!  Woo-hoo!  Five to go to the doctors revised goal and 15 to my personal one.  Believe me, all 15 are in my upper thighs.  (and then some probably)

For about six weeks now I have been having spells of dizziness and then this past Saturday I actually passed out and hit the floor.  I broke down and called the Weight Loss Clinic today and they told me to up my fluids to 80 ounces a day and to drink 2 cups of chicken or beef bouillion a day...this because they think it may be a salt deficiency.  I don't see that being possible as I have had more salt the last couple of week's than the first seven months post-op total.  I guess we will see if the increased fluids help.  If not I am to call them back for an appointment.

I have had so many wow moments it is impossible to recap them all.  I actually dared to wear a two piece bathing suit last week.  Not in public mind you but it was just Dave and I and I was feeling confident.  Thank goodness for home fenced in pools!  LOL!  The neighbors can thank us for that fence!

I wish I could say the hair loss has subsided.  It hasn't.  It must still be coming in also though because otherwise I would be bald by now.  (seriously!!!!)  Not much choice but just deal with it and hope that it ends soon. (the loss not the new growth...lol!)

Next week Dave and I are attending Creation Festival '08.  For those not familiar with it, it is like a gigantic Christian Woodstock festival.  Dave and I volunteer every year with the festival and it has become our annual vacation as well.

I missed my seven month pictures because of everything that has been going on.  I will try to get some pics taken and posted soon.  When I saw Dave on Sunday (because I have been in Gettysburg and he at home) I couldn't get over how good he looked.  Everyone in the family was talking about it and I just couldn't wrap my mind around the fact that  it was him!!!!  His seven month anniversary just passed and I will try to get him to post some new pics on his site for you all also.  Beware women!  He is looking pretty darn hot these days and it isn't from the heat outside either!

I feel bad because I haven't had a chance to stay in touch with OH the last couple of weeks.  Friends, forgive me.

XOXO

Congrats on your most recent loss...Soooo close to your goal, that is great. I am sorry to hear of your family illness and my thoughts are with you. That is tough to watch a love one so sick with something and our hands be tied, I know first hand the stress that comes along with that as a caretaker.
I look forward to seeing your new pics when you get them posted. Again, congratulations...

Family illnesses are unfortunate, but it is real special when a family member steps up and cares for them. You are a special person. Tell Dave I said Hi. I am going to go read his blog right now. Been a while to say the least.
