Surgeon Testimonial

Steven Hendrick, M.D.
My first impression of Dr. Steven Hendrick was he looked very sure of himself. He seemed knowledgeable and direct to the point about what he was going to do and what I needed to do to get the job done. rnDr. Hendrick was one of the best Doctors I have ever met, he said I would come through everything just fine and I did. Also When he did my tummy tuck he did a great job as well. He is not only a great surgeon but a friend to his patients when he needs to be. I would rate him at 100 percent.

My Regain
on November 6, 2008 4:39 pm
For the past 8 months now I have started to regain some of my weight back due to no ones fault but my own.
I was working out 3 days a week at the gym. I had started to re-gain some then too, but not to much. Yes I was eating everything that I should have not been. I was an still am so disappointed at the weight gain that I have not been back to see Dr. Hendrick in about one year, maybe more.
I know this is probably crazy thinking on my part but I feel I not only let myself down but him as well because of the wonderful gift he made for me. I still take all my vitamins and eat most of the protein I'm suppose to but the carbs and sweets are a real big problem for me.
I loss my job about 8 months ago and am having a hard time finding full time employment. Things kept  going from bad to worst. My husband got his hours reduced and then we had to file bankruptcy two months ago. Then my son was let out of jail which put a lot of stress on my life.
The money just wasn't there for the foods I needed so I bought less expensive foods and that meant carbs were now back in my life. I did not eat alot of them but with the sweets and carbs I started to Re-gain. I'm really trying to get back on track again.

My Story

When I was at my heaviest I felt insecure about myself and didn't have much confidence. Because of this I have always taken jobs where I basically worked alone and did not have to deal with people. For most of my life, I worked physical jobs in housekeeping, and as time went on I developed aches and pains associated with being overweight.
Because of my weight, my health began to decline. I was diagnosed with high cholesterol and blood pressure, pre-diabetes and depression. At this point, I tried yet another diet through the dietitian at my Primary care Doctor's office, I went from 268 to 242 and my blood sugar levels still didn't improve. I felt more depressed and started eating comfort foods again.
A few weeks later I spoke with a friend of mine who had weight loss surgery. She had loss 100 pounds in a short time. She gave me the name of the place where she had gone. The Cori Center in Warren Michigan. Well needless to say I called and made and appointment. I desperately wanted to be thinner and healthier and most of all I wanted to feel good about myself again.
The Bariatric surgeon I was suppose to see was canceled and I needed to see another surgeon Doctor Steven Hendrick, which I'm sure now was heaven sent. This remarkable man was one of the best surgeons and caring Doctors I have ever met. I really believe my prayers were answered. Dr. Hendrick answered all my questions and concerns. He explained everything to me in great detail. He explained that this wasn't a quick fix, that it was a life change and that it would take hard work and dedication on my part. Best of all he said he would always be there for me. That right there really meant alot. This man was giving me a second chance at a new life. I'm more active and have more energy than ever. This has been a total transformation for me. A few months after my weight loss surgery Dr. Hendrick left the Cori Center and opened his office in Wyandotte Michigan. He now works out  of Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, and he is still my Doctor and Friend.
