3 more sleeps til the "Nip & Tuck" part 1

Apr 22, 2011

Yup, only 3 more sleeps then I'm having my tummy tuck and breast lift on Tuesday morning - yikes where did the time go?

This morning I had my mammogram and a ultrasound of my abdomen - I think all is ok - although I have a few small cysts on one of my ovaries - but I don't think it's anything to worry about - fingers crossed.  My blood tests are all A ok - so unless anyone tells me differently the first part of my nip & tuck story begins soon.

I had hubby take some pre-op pics last night - when I look in the mirror I am horrified by what I see, the excess skin, the hanging skin, the wrinkly skin - it all bothers me and not only does it not look nice, but its a constant reminder that I used to be the fat girl/woman/lady.

When I've got clothes on, its not too obvious to people that I have the extra skin - but I know it's there.  I'm fairly sure that my extra tummy fat means that I'm wearing trousers which are 1 size larger than I really am and I still can't chose to wear just any old blouse - as most of them won't cover the bat wings !   In underwear it's not too bad as clever fitting underwear can hide alot - BUT - I still know it's there - I live with it each day, I tuck/fold my skin into my clothes, I feel it jiggle as I run - I see it in the mirror when I change etc.  So although it may not look too bad to others, and my pre op photos don't look too bad (gosh how I have changed, I usually hate pictures of me) ...... for me it's an area that bothers me greatly and so I'm really pleased that I've decided to have the surgery and that my husband is supportive (although he says I don't need it as I'm just fine as I am).

Aside from the visual side of the extra skin and fat - it's a real pain trying to run when your boobs, tummy and arms are flapping and your thighs are rubbing (despite the most supportive sportswear you can buy and 2 running bras !)   Somehow it feels like you are trying to defy gravity and velocity as you try to run harder and faster with extra drag which feels like the equivalent of pulling a parachute whilst carrying a medicine ball in your stomach and beach balls in your bra (I'm exagerating slightly - but you know what I mean!).

So all in all - I am excited to think about how it will be post surgery and recovery.

In other news, I've been meeting my goal of 150g of protein daily and have lost 4lbs this week alone !- it's hard work, but doable. I will continue this for the next 3 months or so.

As it's Easter this weekend I have splurged on a few coconut macaroons - they are made in a local french bakery and are fabuluous.  OK - I know they are not going to help towards my protein goal today and they are not great carb choices ! but hey - it's Easter - and I am going to eat them mindfully, enjoy them - THEN - go run in the gym for an hour to salve my conscience !

HAPPY EASTER !
