As youngster I was always a little chubby and basically out of shape.  I tended to blame it on being club footed at birth, requiring foot surgery to correct those issues and then used that as an excuse for not being "athletic" at all.

Although, never "obese" I was usually 10-20% over my ideal weight until after college.  After getting married, my weight would spike 75-100 pounds overweight. I would diet and take it off over and over again.  Typical yo yo process many of us have.

At approximately 50 years of age, I started getting health related issues due to my weight.  Sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, mild high blood pressure and pre-diabetes.

After thinking about WLS for about 10 years, I decided it was time to take that step.  I have the mindset that I can do this the right way and I am determined.

Started the process in the fall of 2014, 5 weeks after my first consultation my wife was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer.  Everything stopped, my wife's illness was much more important to my family.  She was treated over the next 7 months and is now in complete remission and I am on track to have surgery on July 1, 2015.
