Non-Scale Victories

Oct 03, 2016

Seeing the numbers on the scale drop is a great thing, but there are other non-scale victories that are amazing!

  • I rode 5 roller coasters with my daughter a week ago during her birthday trip to Orlando, I hadn't been able to fit in a coaster seat in about 7 years.
  • As a school site administrator, I spend a lot of time observing classrooms.  Now when I walk in I don't stand in the back of the room, I slide right in to a student desk and watch the action from the perspective of my students.  It's a tight fit, but I fit.
  • I've had to buy clothes, when you approach the 100 lbs point no belt will hold up your pants, in fact, I've gone through a few sets of belts too!
  • My kids now struggle to keep up with me, that's a new one...

The story continues.

First Cruise Post-Op

Aug 01, 2016

Just got back today from my first cruise post-op.  I remember gaining between 8 and 13 pounds during my prior cruises, I LOST 2 LBS this time and ate whatever I wanted, the thing is I didn't want much.  The gastric sleeve truly is an amazing surgery.  Keep loosing my friends.

Month 1 In The Bag!

Jul 19, 2016

Month 1 is in the bag and I feel great.  I'm pleased with my progress so far and I'm happy to be able to chew before swallowing. I went to my first support group meeting and found it informative and enlightnening, it's great to hear other people's stories, the ups and downs and ask questions in person.  There was a guest speaker who lost 385 lbs and has kept it off over the past decade.  I'm excited to be on this voyage with all of you!  Fifty-two pounds down, a whole lot to go...

Eighteen days later...

Jul 08, 2016

Sleeve was done 18 days ago and I'm down 40.8 lbs.  I feel good and I'm exercising (walking).  My Fitbit is a great ally because it keeps track of how much I’m moving, I’m glad I started using it again.  How are you all doing?

The Journey Begins

Jun 26, 2016

I had surgery six days ago and was very frightened about the whole process, it was the best decision I ever made. I've lost 30 pounds over the past six days which far exceeds my expectations. I was told I would've thought I should've done this a long time ago, I definitely agree. The journey begins!
