17 Days Post Op; Crazy Reactions to Store Foods LOL

Feb 17, 2017

We have loads of snow so I've been walking in grocery stores, the little mall near my house, and the Walmart.

I did an hour in the little mall today.  I went in through the grocery store entrance and had to walk past an enormous display of chips, including all of my old favorite flavors.  Without thinking, I spontaneously flipped the bird at the display, to the amusement of an elderly gentleman walking by.

I had no plan to do that; it just happened, and it made me giggle.  I think it's because I'm still in pain and I'm mad that I needed surgery to help me combat food addictions, lol. Or maybe I'm just nuts. I thought it was funny, anyway.

Later in my walk, I popped into the dollar store to buy some small containers for food storage.  At the checkout counter, I was surrounded with a display of chocolate bars to my left, and a shelf full of Easter chocolates, lollys, and huge marshmallow treats to my right.  I looked at them, was filled with instant disgust at the sight and smell, and a huge wave of nausea hit me. I almost got sick right there and I had to close my eyes and breathe through it.  Thankfully the lady in front of me checked out and left and I was able to move forward and away from the sickly sweet smell.

I have done an hour walk 3 times in the past week, plus one half hour walk, and I really need to limit myself to the half hour walks because the hour walks take too much out of me.  I was dead on my feet and fell asleep as soon as I sat down once I got home.  I guess the super low calories I"m taking in are burned and my tank runs empty.  It feels good to walk, but I need to slow it down, because the naps make me get behind on my protein intake.

I'm really enjoying the pureed stage; I started yesterday.  I had a very small portion of refried beans and a tsp of fat free sour cream yesterday.  Today I had a bigger portion of refried beans; almost 1/3 of a cup, along with 60 ml of greek yogurt.  It was delicious and I'll probably have it again for supper, lol.  I am going to be daring and try some mild salsa with it alater.

Tomorrow my Dad is making chilli and I asked if he could make me a small portion with no hot sauce; I think that would taste great pureed, with my refried beans and greek yogurt, lol.

My Mom is going to make her amazing beef stew with dumplings on the weekend. I can't have dumplings but I think the beef stew will puree nicely; I'll just make sure not to add any potato to my portion.  I never liked the pototos in beef stew and always picked them out before too, lol.

I'm getting very sick of my premier protein shakes but still need them to get my protein in.

The pain is better today than yesterday, thank God.  It only really hurts when I go from a standing to sitting position today.  Yesterday it hurt even when sitting still, which was awful.

I tried two different brands of iron pills and can't stomach them, so I went online and bought some chewable iron pills. I also bought some more chewable multi vitamins. I'm on the patch vitamins but am terrified that this early out, I may need more than they can give. I have to go for blood work next week so I'll find out then how they're doing.

I really love my calcium and vitamain D chews; they taste like tootsie rolls, lol.  I'll be going for B12 shots at the doctor's office once a month.

I've been enjoying my adult coloring book so much that I bought a set of 100 pencil crayons, and then bought a whole new coloring book that can be used with markers too, as the book I currently have can't be used with markers because they bleed through the pages.  The new book, purchased at the dollar store, doesn't have anything on the backs of the coloring pages so I won't have to worry about bleed through.  I enjoy coloring while watching Netflix.
