24 Weeks Post Op, 32 km bike ride, interesting NSV

Jul 19, 2017

I had a pretty good week.  I'm only down 1.2 Lbs this week, which brings me to 102 Lbs lost, and only 2.1 Lbs away from Onederland, but I'm happy with it.

I went for a 32 km bike ride, and it was great, but rough, as about half (or more) of the trail was all up and down; soooo many hills, lol.  I was able to ride up half of the hills, which is great, but did need to take my ventolin after the first steep hill. I had to walk my bike up some hills, and down others, as they were steep and windy with sharp curves and I was too afraid to crash.

I also had an interesting NSV this week.  I was at the pool swimming laps, and a nice looking man smiled at me, so I smiled back.  After this happened a few times he came to join me in the pool (he was in the sauna for the most part), and we got to chatting.  He seemed OK, and after talking for about an hour he asked me out to dinner.  I hesitated because I was trying to think of what I could safely eat but he took that for a no, so then suggested if I wasn't ready for dinner yet, we could go for drinks.  I don't drink so I guess he thought I was going to say no so he said, "or coffee?"  LOL.  So I agreed to join him for a drink.  I was shocked that I said yes as I have said no since I was 28, and I'm 53 now.  I had some very bad experiences with two prior fiances that ended up with my quitting men altogether.  So I showered and did my hair and went to meet him, and you'd think it would be easier fully dressed than in bathingsuits, but we had lost the rapport we had in the pool. We chatted and while he would be a great guy he's not for me; we're too different.  He hates all of the animals that I love, he smokes (a deal breaker for me), and he had some pretty strong beliefs that were the exact opposite of mine.  I ended up laughing so hard I was snorting because every time we disagreed he'd say, "Let's change the subject" and we were running out of subjects.

I had a good time and think it was a good NSV because it was such a growth experience for me to actually say yes to a man, for the first time in 25 years.

I'm going to add a few photos of my 32 km bike ride and then I'm heading out for my very first overnight bike camping trip!  Wish me luck!

Edited to add: by the time I packed my bike up, grey clouds had rolled in.  I checked the weather channel this morning and it just said "chance of light showers" for tonight, but when I went back in to check again, it had changed to "Thunderstorms".  Sheesh!  At this rate I'll neve get going, lol.

Oh well, now I can go buy some bungy mesh thingies to better secure my sleeping bag/tent, etc. to my bike rack.  I also need to go through the stuff I packed and take it out as the bike is so heavy now the kickstand won't hold it up.
