1 year follow up

Jun 03, 2017

On Friday June 2nd, I had my 1 year follow up appointment. The medical team is very impressed with my progress I had made. From my highest weight, I can say that I have lost the weight of another adult. Pre-surgery weight I have lost 64 pounds. I also found out that since I do 3 days of strength training and 5 days of cardio I needed to increase my calorie intake from 1100 to between 1200-1400 calories. When my nutritionist told me this information I went into panic mode. I told her that if I eat that much I will put back on all the weight I had lost. She said that I was not getting enough calories for the working out I was doing and that was causing me to slow down on my weight loss, I also asked her about muscles weight, she told me that yes it weighs more but it is better than fat. I can totally agree on that one.

I also did the Relay for Life last night with my oldest daughter, and I was able to get 6.62 miles in before her ankle that she twisted started hurting. I made my goal that I had set for myself of doing a 5 K around my one year make and not having to stop because my back or my legs, or my feet started hurting. I only stopped if I needed to get my water or get more protein in my system or run to the restroom. I am so proud of myself for being able to get this done. I think this is going to become an annual thing for her and I. The picture I took on the track is really dark so you can't see me that well. I will see if I can find the group picture that was taken and crop myself out and add it at a later time.

Feeling ok

May 19, 2017

I am almost at my one year mark since my RNY surgery and it is still hard to see the success while looking in a mirror. I still tend to see the me at 317 pounds. I can truly tell there has been weight loss but I think it is going to take me a few more years before I can see past that old me. My 14 year old daughter is my best support person for when I started this journey to get healthy. She woudl always tell me mommy you're beautiful even when I never seen it. As I started losing the weight she would get so excited as she was able to finally hug me with her hand touching behind my back. As the weight keeps coming off she is always there telling me that I am doing a great job. I get a kick out of her when I look at new protein bars, she grabs the same one and starts reading the package to make sure it has no sugar alcohol as it give me the dumping syndrom. When she finds it before me she say "Hey mom you can't have that one sorry" and moves on to a new one to read.
