On August 17, 2002 I will have my one year anniversary. That was the first day of the rest of my life. I was 28 years old, 2 kids, 5'3" and weighed 234lbs. I was extremely unhappy. I was so unhappy that it started to interfere with my roles as both a wife and a mother. Therefore, I decided to do something to better myself, and the rest of my life. Dr. Carlos Ferrari did my surgery at Bellaire Hospital. There was pain post-op, but pain is temporary. I followed the doctor's instructions about my diet, liquids for the first 3 weeks, then soft solids for 3 more weeks. I did not cheat. At first, I wasn't even hungry. I had to force myself to eat just an ounce. But eventually, I began to get my appetite back. Now I can eat anything, just smaller portions (much smaller). This decision was the hardest decision I've ever had to make, but in order for me, and my family to have a better life, I thought it would be the best thing for me. I don't regret this for one minute. As of right now, I have lost 86 pounds. I have 18 more to go. Even if I didn't lose that, I am still happy as can be. I'm so much more outgoing, and just loving life in general. If you are thinking about surgery, or have had it done and want to chat, please feel free to write!
