Happy Thanksgiving to all! Obesity.com and AMOS are on my lists of things to be thankful for this year. This is so very helpful! Support and encouragement and answers for all my questions! I am now 11 days out and doing very well. Minimal soreness! Minimal problems! I had a couple of days of swelling, Lasix from my IM doc took care of that (she says it's common after surgery, period). With the exception of the Lasix, I've taken *no* blood pressure meds since surgery. I've taken *no* diabetes meds since I got out of the hospital (got some insulin in there since there is glucose in the IVF) and this AM my fasting blood sugar was 88!! While I can't see any weight loss yet (I'm not allowing myself to get on the scales compulsively but waiting for my doctor visit!) those two things alone are tremendously encouraging, since getting off many of my meds was a goal in having this! I'm drinking fluids constantly and using protein supplements along with some soups, blenderized of course. My surgeon wants 6 weeks of full liquids to pureed food, which is fine right now! I'm not really hungry at all, though I try not to hang around food to torment myself with head hunger! I'm pushing myself to walk, though not as much as I need to, yet (I hate exercise but know it has to be done!) This was my 5th surgery and by far the roughest, but it gets much better daily! I'll try to update occasionally. Thanks to everyone- Susan

Susan, many good wishes and warm thoughts are being sent your way as you begin your journey to a new and healthy life! I am almost 5 months out and have lost 70 lbs., feel so much better, take so much less medication, and feel it was all worth it. The toughest part is the first 8 weeks, healing from the surgery and learning how to eat, once you pass that mark, you will feel terrific. Just remember, WALK, WALK, WALK, DRINK, DRINK, DRINK, and PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN!!

I'm home! We just got home this evening. I had surgery as scheduled on Monday the 18th. I'm a bit on the "battered and bruised" side and still quite sore, having trouble sleeping for very long at a time (wake up every time I move!) but overall things have gone well for me- no complications to this point. I'll update more later. I so much appreciate everyone's support, prayers, and encouragement!
