Congratulations on your surgery date! I have some Zen Wisdom for you - Nothing exists but momentarily...One thing flows into another...observe things as they are, let everything go as it goes. This is to put everything under control in its widest sense. --- May God keep you close to his side as you travel your new journey. You will have ups and downs. You can always turn to us, your AMOS family, we will give support, comfort and encouragement. You will find this will be the best thing you could ever have done for yourself as well as your family. I know that was true for me. Keep us posted when you reach the "other" side. I pray for a speedy and easy recovery for you. Don’t forget to update your profile at least monthly. We all like to see how we are doing!!! Make sure you take pictures. It’s great to see the new you emerge!!! Not to mention the look on YOUR face when you look at those pictures and compare them in a few months! It’ll be a BIG WOW!!! Please remember too, that this is a *tool* to use. Make sure you use it wisely. The first year it’s pretty easy, after that I’ve been hearing (I’m not speaking from experience as I’m not a year out yet) that it gets increasingly difficult. Choose the right foods and measurements wisely! Good luck and God Bless!!! RNY 10/31/03 down 117 pounds– I’M IN THE CENTURY CLUB!!! Hang in there it will be here before you know it! It is truely the best thing I have had done to myself, I feel great, and 10 yrs. younger. My BP went from 200/110 to 112/64 and no more sleep apnea. I have lost 68 lbs almost 5 mo. (22nd). You will be amazed how great you feel, and how much energy you have. Granted you will still have days you will eat alot and days you won't eat much at all, and carb addicts (that's me) will have to watch that little carb voice inside your head (head hunger) which always tells you to eat more carbs. but even at that you still won't eat as much. Good Luck with your surgery and heal quickly, your gonna be so happy with the new you. I know I did this for my daughter so I could be around to enjoy her longer, and if someday she needs to do the same thing, she will have me as a example. I had stuggles with my insurance, it took 5 months and some major obstacles to jump over to get it done, but I didn't give up and that's what they wanted me to do. So don't give up on yourself, and maybe check with the dept. of labor on insurance laws and what they can and can't turn down. I think this would help you greatly.

Janice - I had insurance struggles as well and was unable to get them to pay. Right now I am planning on suing the benefit board that purchases our insurance for reimbursement from my going to Mexico. It's not an easy fight and I know how you feel. I wish you the best and hope you get your approval soon!
