Congratulations on your surgery! I'm sorry I didn't get this posted to your prior to your date. I have some Zen Wisdom for you - Nothing exists but momentarily...One thing flows into another...observe things as they are, let everything go as it goes. This is to put everything under control in its widest sense. --- May God keep you close to his side as you travel your new journey. You will have ups and downs. You can always turn to us, your AMOS family, we will give support, comfort and encouragement. You will find this will be the best thing you could ever have done for yourself as well as your family. I know that was true for me. I pray for a speedy and easy recovery for you. Don’t forget to update your profile at least monthly. We all like to see how we are doing!!! Make sure you take pictures. It’s great to see the new you emerge!!! Not to mention the look on YOUR face when you look at those pictures and compare them in a few months! It’ll be a BIG WOW!!! Please remember too, that this is a *tool* to use. Make sure you use it wisely. The first year it’s pretty easy, after that I’ve been hearing (I’m not speaking from experience as I’m not a year out yet) that it gets increasingly difficult. Choose the right foods and measurements wisely! Good luck and God Bless!!! RNY 10/31/03 down 120 pounds– I’M AT GOAL!!! First of all, I want to say THANK YOU to all who emailed me words of encouragement prior to my surgery. I went in on 8/24/04 for my RNY - LAP and during the course of the procedure my surgeon discovered a tumor. She removed it and we are waiting for pathology reports to come back. She was not able to complete the gastric bypass and had to undo the portion of the procedure she had finished. So, for now, I am just praying really hard that the tumor will be benign and that I can consider having my RNY in about 6 months time, after I am completely healed from this stomach surgery. I guess everything happens for a reason. Many of my friends and relatives were saying to me "Why have the surgery when you have already done so well in losing weight?" I had to lose 10% but exceeded that amount by another 10lbs. I knew the surgery was the right thing for me and in this case it certainly was as this tumor would never have been detected had I not elected to have the surgery. I will post again when I know the outcome of the pathology report. For now, prayers are welcome my way! Thanks. Susan

Hi Susan! Congrats on having your surgery! Let the weight loss begin!! I bet you feel relieved now. It's over and now you are on the other side and can join the ranks of the losers. Welcome, my friend!!! Happy RE-Birthday to you! From this day forward you life will change forever. Just try to take it easy and remember to sip, walk, deep breathe and cough. Take those pain pills and splint the tummy! These first few days are rough, but I assure you they get better with each passing day. Some days those emotions will resurface and try to get the best of you, but just remember what you’ve been through to get this far! I’m sure you’ll be proud of what you’ve accomplished!! You know you can always come here and get a dose of confidence and good will! We will still be here to support you and cheer you on as the pounds come off! I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about you today and that you are in my thoughts and prayers for an uncomplicated, swift recovery. You are an official loser!! Wishing you much success in your weight-loss journey. Today you burst out of that cocoon and become a beautiful butterfly! Tomorrow you’ll spread those wings and embark on a wonderful journey!
