Krista, I feel like that every week, wondering if I am going to lose any more or not. I had Open RNY 10/4/02 and have lost 105 lbs. Yet, every week that I don't lose I think, well, this is it. Don't worry hun, as long as you are doing what you are suppose to, you will get to where you are suppose to be. You and I can both use some positive attitudes. If you ever need to talk, I'm just an email away.

Hiya krista!! :) Research, research, research. Only you can know if this is the right choice for you, and you can only feel that it's the right choice if you're fully informed about it. Best of luck, hun. *hugs*

Hey Krista, regarding your post, I am also scheduled to have open RNY on 1/14/03. I agree with you about being scared. I'm only 22. I don't have any children, but have only been married for 2.5 years and the thought of anything going wrong and me never ever being able to leave my husband with a child has definitely crossed my mind. Truth is I weigh 330lbs, on the verge of being diagnosed with diabetes II and have a couple of great aunts who have already passed away from diabetes. I also risk heart disease since I've had two other great aunts who have had a heart attack. Obesity has ruined alot of lives for my family and frankly I'm tired of it ruining my life. I'm more afraid of dying at an early age from obesity issues rather than the surgery. Also keep in mind, God only knows when its your time. You have to trust in Him only and have faith that He will see you through with a super speedy recovery so you can take care of your precious gems. People will always try to scare you off with death scenarios due to this procedure, but truth is any surgery could go wrong. If people continue to scare you off tell it to them like this. People who are dying because they need an open-heart surgery don't think twice about the surgery since it gives them hope and a chance to actually live. It's the same thing. Being obese will eventually takes its toll on you and this RNY is your surgery to actually extend the time you have to live. Which option would you choose. Life of course. Hope this helps. I'll be thinking about you and praying for you. Keep us posted. Lord Bless.

Krista, Good luck with your surgery on Friday. I am also having my surgery (lap RNY) on Friday. I hope you have an uneventful surgery and a fast recovery. I am over the nervousness now and am excited and ready to have this surgery and get on with my new life. See you on the other side!

Krista, Everyone will experience some level of fear and doubt prior to having any surgery. Those that caution that the surgery is dangerous probally have no or little education about the surgery itself. There are risks as with any surgery but if you have done your homework, found a doctor that you like and are willing to make a commitment to yourself then you are ready. Having very young children has to make the decision harder but at the same time, by losing weight now you are avoiding health issues that would have occurred later in your life and just years of feeling better about yourself. I wish you calmness and happiness as you move forward with your journey. KimmieTN

Hi Krista! All the other posts said it all! Everything from concern.. to jealousy. I just wanted to stop by and give you my support along with everybody. THANK YOU for taking the time to post. THANK YOU for allowing us the opportunity to support you. It would have been disappointing had you changed your mind thinking that everybody was against you having the surgery. Every time you feel the negativity is getting you down, come on to the site and tell us about it! Post away! That is what we want, and that is what we are here for. Keep in touch and we will be there for you when you need it most. Good luck on Friday and know that you are in my prayers.
