HI Deb: I sure hope you feel better from the flu soon! I can't help you with your question, but I can tell you what my doctor told me last week at 5 months out. Dr. Ash told me when I questioned him about my finding a friendly PCP that now that I am so far out, I can use any doctor of my choosing, take any meds I chose but nothing inflamatory for a long period of time. He said I was now "normal". LOL

Deb, pre and post op, most doctors advise to cut out all caffeinated coffee and tea. Because it's so hard to get in all the liquids your body needs right after surgery, and coffee and tea (anything caffeinated) act as diuretics, and rob water from your body tissues, it's best to abstain. Once you're past the point of being able to get in all your fluids, I don't think a cup or two a day of coffee or tea will hurt you, but remember, it still acts as a diuretic, so you should drink a little more water than the recommended 64 ozs. per day.

Deb, I too am 51 and I have lost 60 lbs. in 4 1/2 months. The past two weeks I have had a horrible time with my skin being so dry that it actually hurt. My clothes hurt my skin. The covers on the bed touching me hurt my skin. I too drink a lot of water. I bought Caress Moisturizing Body wash and use it. I have always used Caress soap and it has helped me. The Body wash really has helped me. My skin doesn't hurt anymore. I have the lines showing on my face, also, around my eyes. They weren't there 2 months ago. My weight loss has been gradual, and my skin has been keeping up with the loss so far. You lost pretty fast, maybe your skin will tighten up some after a while. I am doing weight training with a weight bench we bought in December, after Christmas. I can honestly say that it helps to tone the muscles up and give you strength. I hope my input helps. Nita

Deb, concerning your very dry skin, have you had your thyroid tested for hypothyroidism? Extremely dry skin is one of the symptoms. Just a thought. Sincerely, Lori Ann

Deb, it's about time I shut off this computer and go to bed but I was so blessed to read the comments on your web page about how the Lord has directed you in this whole process. You so totally mirrored my thinking that I had to write to say so! I will be having surgery on Monday (January 6!) and have complete confidence in MY GOD! Thank you for your encouragement.
