Mary Jo, I agree, find a new surgeon! I live in Wisconsin too. My surgeon is in Texas and I was going to check into asking Dr. Chua for follow-up care. Glad I didn't. Please keep me posted. I belong to a VBG group, so if you would like some advice or support from there, let me know, OK?? A lot of us are from Wisconsin, so someone there may be able to help. Best wishes.

Dear Friend, I too had the VBG on 9/9/02. My surgeon practices in St. Petersburg, Fl. I live in Lakeland...recently moved here from Michigan. I feel so sorry for you....you need help for sure! What does the surgeon suggest, if anything, that would alleviate this problem. I presume the ulcers are from the acid reflux. Has the Dr. suggested Pepsid or anything to relieve the reflux issue. I have it sometimes too and yes, I do upchuck now and then. Meat seems especially difficult for me to get around....and I tend to eat too fast at times. I found that I don't dare eat if I'm nervous or upset...it doesn't work! I hope you can get to Florida this winter and perhaps we could meet one another. How long are you in Florida? Best Wishes for you...certainly hope and pray you can get some relief. Bonnie

Hi everyone, Please, I need some help! I had the VBG 6 weeks ago and I'm having so many problems! I have severe reflux. Food doesn't seem to be going down. I've had 2 endoscopies already to have my band stretched. Now I've developed ulcers up and down my esophagus. For weeks I was throwing up black stuff. I've lost 48½ pounds in 6 short weeks and I'm as weak as a newborn kitten. I want to attend my support group meeting this next Wednesday but I'm not sure that I can even walk the distance from the car to the building! I can't even begin to express how deeply I regret having this surgery. My surgeon is totally unsympathetic. His job was simply to DO the surgery and he doesn't seem the least bit concerned about the complications afterward. My gastroenterologist is appalled at my surgeons lack of concern over my health problems since the surgery. I'm existing on nothing but jello and liquids. My body needs nutrition to heal itself but I'm terrified to even try pureed food! Please, please, has anyone had the same type of problems? Any advice that anyone can send my way would be deeply appreciated! I wanted this surgery to improve my health, not subtract from it! I'm so upset and scared ... please email me if you can help in any way.

Mary Jo! Congratulations on your successful surgery! I am scheduled for surgery on Oct 3rd and I pray that I do as well as you have. Maybe we can compare notes on how fast the weight falls away! You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you continue to recover. The best is yet to come!!!
