Hey Vicki! I've been so, so busy lately what with working part-time, taking care of the kids, house and pets! I am loving it! With my body I seems it's taken a stand at 200 lbs. I've been stuck here for about 1 1/2 months. I'm not upset by it because I kind of know why. First, I haven't started excersizing yet. I just got the ok from my neurosurgeon that I can start! Also, I've lost 125lbs and I feel my body is adjusting. I'm seeing Dr. Heydari on 6/24/03 which is my exact one year anniversary of the surgery! I'm going to ask if I can go for the surgery to take all my skin off or should I get my knee replaced first. Naturally I can move much better but if I were to go to the mall, I would still need my elec. wheelchair to get around because of my knees, hips and back. The great thing is I don't need to own the extra heavy chair anymore! :) Thanks Vicki for reminding me to update and hi everyone! Especially Wendy Gutsall who (thank God) is out of the hospital and recovering from tough times after her surgery. Later all!

Hey Barb - Congrats on your 80lbs loss! Glad to hear you are doing well. I also appreciated your help with my surgeon search this summer. I decided to go with Dr. Heydari and am scheduled for surgery on 1/13/03. I haven't been able to make any of the support meetings but am hoping to be able to attend the one in November - will you be there? I'd love to meet you in person. Congrats again - and keep up the good work! Kelly

Hello again! Well, it's been a strange trip. I've lost about 80 lbs. now but won't know officially until a week from tomorrow. It's been 19 weeks (6/24/02) since surgery (4 3/4 months I think!)! I still have trouble eating meat or chicken so I pretty much stick with soups, beans, and nuts. I'm looking for a decent protein supplement but so far, YUK. I'm lactose intollerant so I have it mix it with soy or rice milk or even orange juice but the one I tried, (yes, I only tried one and was so grossed out I quit!), was just horrible. Just remember, chew, chew, chew and take teeny bites or like me, we'll meet in the bathroom to stick our fingers down our throats. Later! Barb

Hi Barb, just a reminder. It has been almost 2 months, time for an update. (:

I saw my wonderful surgeon on 8/12/02 for my 7 week weigh in. I've lost 47 lbs. as of that date. I thought I'd be able to live without a scale here at my home but I've decided to get one. I don't have to see the doc for another 3 months and I don't want to wait that long to weigh in. He told me I'm doing wonderfully, not losing too fast or too slow but on the bulletin board I read about people that have lost so much more in 2 months I sometimes get wistfull! I understand though that it depends at what weight they started out at, etc. I've realized I can't eat any beef except ground form. Even ground turkey makes me sick. I've gotten "rid" of my food 4 times now on purpose because if it's not the kind my body likes, it gets "stuck" and it hurts. I'm still thrilled I had the surgery and don't regret a single thing. Oh, thanks Vicki for showing me how to update this page!
