Hi JulieAnn! Congratulations on making it to the losing side...another wls buddy in CA! I'm so happy for you. I had surgery 4 weeks ago, so I can say this with a certainty: be patient, 'cause it gets better every day! As Teanne says, "walk, sip, walk, sip..." (By the way, I live in Laguna Hills).

^j^ UNOFFICIAL ANGEL FLYING IN ^j^ While at USC to see my angelette, Patty Rex, yesterday, I got to meet JulieAnn who is sharing her room with Patty. JulieAnn had surgery on Wednesday morning and after a bit of delay was moved from the recovery room to her room. She seemed to be in good spirits last night with her dear hubby and close friend with her, and she was getting in some walking during the evening.

JulieAnn, welcome to the losing side and keeping you in my prayers for a speedy recovery! Know that it WILL get better with each passing day!

And without knowing exactly what he said to you, yup, your surgeon IS a bit on the pompous and arrogant side, but the fact is is that you came through this surgery safely, and this is what is most important! Lots of hugs! Caroline

JulieAnn, RUN don't walk away from this doctor. He is working for YOU! There must be other doctors who can help you. My doctor is a very passionate person who wants to help us have a better life. Please take care and find a doctor with a heart. BECAUSE YOU ARE WORTH IT. I do read on this site all the time that some doctors ask their patients to lose weight before hand but I haven't quite figured out Why? Love, Dana

JulieAnne, the relationship one has with their surgeon must be strong. It will last a life time. You will have to have follow up visits and will have to deal with issues through out the first year a LOT. After that you will require medical attention for the rest of your life in order to stay healthy. It is not easy to find a new doctor to take over after another surgeon has done your surgery because there are so many risk factors. I can't imagine you feeling comfortable calling your doctor to say you tested the waters and ate something that is now making you very ill. I can't imagine you feeling okay about telling him you may have swallowed a bite of meat that wasn't chewed well enough and you fear it could be stuck. These are the kinds of things we post ops have to do. We have to have a relationship with our care givers where we can tell him anything and he will help us. He may scold us too, but he will not abuse us or make us feel less than human because we did something stupid. I can't imagine that he is the only doctor in LA that can help you. If it were me, knowing what I know about getting over RNY. I would run, not walk from his office. He has a major problem and you do not want it to become yours. He may be the captain of the ship, but his attitude could make the ship sink. And by the way, there are no stupid questions. He is not doing you any favors he is being PAID for his service. Good luck to you. I am glad I am 2000 miles from you. Because that is one doctor I would sure love to go visit. In my opinion that jerk earned him self a can of whoop azz!

JulieAnn, I am so sorry you had that experience. That doctor is unprofessional. I don't know what to tell you...except that you are a wonderful person and should not have been treated like that. oxoxo
