Hi Ilene, I had open RNY on 11/26/02. I had ZERO, count 'em, ZERO complications. I had a morphine epidural (ask your anesthesiologist about that) and it was wonderful!! I had a good recovery and have not had any problems with the surgery site or with my new stomach since. Although I have a high threshold for pain, I didn't actually have much to speak of during my hospital stay. Yeah, my scar is bigger than someone who had lap, but I've lost 64 pounds and gone from a size 22 to between a 16 and a 14 in five months. You can't beat that with an ugly stick!! The scar will fade in time, but my success with this tool will not! Blessings to you as you continue your journey!! Just five more days to one of the best birthdays of your life!! TTFN!
