Susan, I am so glad to see your smiling face on the Iowa Board again. I kind of understand what you have been feeling. I have just started to come out of "hibernation" and starting to rejoin life again. Do you still have my phone number? Feel free to call or e-mail anytime, I am here if you need to talk. Susan... welcome to the losing side and I was so sorry to hear about your leak. At least they found it and were able to get you back in and take care of it right away! God bless & I'm keeping you and your partner and family in my prayers!! :-)

We are hoping Susan will be home Monday; keeping our fingers crossed. She had been running a fever and a slight elevation of blood pressure so they kept her today. Tomorrow she'll get chest x-rays and if vitals are stable she'll be going home. She has been having nausea while trying to tolerating fluids and couldn't stand the smell of broths. However for the first time today she was able to take a pill for nausea. This make a huge difference for her and she is not tolerating liquids better. She got down 3 ounces of cranberry juice; her fever and blood pressure were coming down as well. It appears that she is turning the corner, heading for home. Just some tidbits for all of you "soon to be losers". We discovered ice and water chilled washcloths wrapped around wrists help reduce feverish feeling; when placed on her forehead and mouth, her nausea subsided Thanks for all your support, prayers, visits, gifts, flowers, and phone calls. Sincerely, Sista Sue W

Hi Susan and Sue, I'm glad things are going well now, sounds as thought things were a little nightmarish for both of you. Thank God for your competent radiologist and here's hoping the rest of your journey is totally un-eventful. BIGGHUGGZZZZ to both of you.

Yes Elizabeth was correct; Rapp did have a pouch leak. THank to all of you for your support. She is doing much better.. here are the details. At 11:50am Wednesday an excellent Radiologist at Boone Hospital discovered a miniscule leak in Susan's pouch. Thank God for the diligent work on the Radiologist. So I scrambled to get my 1pm shift covered at work. Naturally this was upsetting to both of us because that meant she had to go to surgery again . Rapp's IV site also stopped working. SO for 3-4 hour she had no IV, no pain meds. (maybe a shot??) and had a major headache. All afternoon various disciplines tried to get an IV started and to no avail, success didn't occur. Finally Dr Lee Anesthesiologist was able to get a line in at elbow joint. At 5:30pm she went down to surgery. THis meant the entire staff stayed late to ensure Rapp's pouch was fixed. We certainly appreciate these staff members and patient nurses!!!!!!!.. They are awesome. Rapp was out of surgery at 8pm and was in recovery til 9:30pm before she got back to her room . IT was a d&mn long day. Today Rapp is doing great; almost lines are out. She has 3-4 drain tubes and one goes directly into her original stomach so they can provide nutrients and medication for a day of two while to pouch has extra time to heal..Sounds like the safest route yet. We anticipate Rapp to be in hospital til Sunday.. Again thanks for all your prayers and support.. It means so much to us both. Thanks sista sue W

Susan, sorry to hear about the set back but I am sooo glad they found the problem when they did so you could get fixed up in a hurry. It would not have been good to have gone home and then realize it. I am confident that you will do fine. Keep in mind all the good thoughts that are being had in your honor!!

Susan, so sorry that you didn't pass your leak test. On a positive note, it's good that they discovered it quickly so they can do a repair and speed you along towards healing and recovery. I've enclosed a big phat cyber (((HUG))) for you and your partner. Hugz
