Smaller Outfit

Sep 30, 2011

The other day at work, I was talking to one of my co-workers about the struggles her very large (super morbidly obese) sister was having with her weight loss. This sister is planning on having gastric bypass but her insurance and the hospital program require a 5% weight loss before approval.

One of the things my co-worker thought she would do was buy her sister a smaller outfit and use it as incentive to work harder. I told her absolutely not, it does the exact opposite for most. I told her that it would remind her constantly of how she was NOT progressing in her weight loss. In a way, say to her "Look, this is what you could be wearing, you are failing."

I went on to say the best thing she could do for her sister is go with her for walks, encourage healthier eating, things like that. I also suggested that they come to support group, both of them. They need to see that others are in this same struggle and how they are dealing with it. Also to have the support of others outside of family. I think that helps more than the 'loving' sister sometimes.

My life is shaping up pretty good. The 5 Day Pouch test shaped up to be what I needed. The pouch and head are currently on the same page. I know that could change in an instant but I am prepared for it. Did have a premenstral dietary meltdown and had a whopper junior (minus the mayo) the other day. Did not let it totally derail me. Successd I think. BTW -6.5 lbs in 5 days.

Have a wonderful day all. Love ya!!
