"They still have a ways to come for the bariatric patient. After surgery I was placed in an ageing regular hospital bed. It was uncomfortable and I couldn't turn over in it. I asked my surgeon about a bariatric bed and he stated he had asked for one but the hospital policy is you have to be over 400 pounds to get one and i was only 396.4. Wow what a narrow minded approach. The bedside chair was a normal minimally padded arm chair. It looked nice but i had trouble getting in it cause it wasn't wide enough. They want you to walk as much as possible. I tried to. The IV pole looked like trash. The wheels didn't roll well especially on that great carpet. The iv pump was half attached and half taped on. The pole didn't have a ring to hold onto so I had to hold the actual pole which caused me to stand too clos to the wheels. I keept tripping on the wheels. The bedside tray was ok but some of the wheels didnt roll at all. What a pain this was trying to move it right after surgery. I was in a double with some guy who was half dying with psychological problems and was loud and obnoxious. I assumed I would be alone or with other WLS people."
