Butterflys are a great symbol of WLS patients. Like the caterpillar, we move slowly. We are not particularly attractive - and most of us are a bit round. Soon, we enter the cocoon stage, where we hide from everyone and everything, and EAT and SLEEP. Then, when the time is right, we emerge from the cocoon, spread our wings, and when they are dry, we fly off, seeking summer flowers. I love the analogy, and can't think of a thing that is better. So, first the butterflies in your stomach, and in your thoughts - pretty soon, you will have them in your heart, and you will be so proud of yourself, and feeling darn good, too!" Best of luck. Don't forget to wiggle your new wings. :) May God Bless You and Yours.

Well, it’s official! You’re on the losing side. The trumpets are blaring, the cymbals are crashing and the drums are drumming – all for YOU! I hope that all went well for you! You’ve been out of surgery now for a little over a month – YIPPIE!!! Your journey will have moments to “pause” – I’d like to impart some words of wisdom for when it does occur - remember these wise words whispered by Confucius – “It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.” Be patient. You didn’t put it on over night, it won’t come off over night (DARN IT!)…Don’t forget to update your profile at least monthly and take lots of pictures…the transformations will make your jaw drop!!! RNY 10/31/03 – down 91 pounds!!! Good luck!

Hi Shannon ! I'm trying again & hoping this message will finally show up... for some reason I've been having trouble when I try to sign people's surgery pages. Anyway, I'm SO glad to hear that you're out of surgery and doing well !!! Remember, girl... walk, walk, walk and cough when the nurses tell ya to even if it does hurt like hell. You'll be missed on the board, so hurry back ! Hugs....

Well, Shannon!!! You are on the losing side now!! Shannon's surgery went fine and she looked good when I saw her. She was very groggy and in a LOT of pain - but hey! she just had major surgery. She's so sweet and I wish her the very best!!
