Like so many others I have been heavy all my life. I never considered surgery an option until a few years ago when it started getting a lot harder to fight the fat. You can never say how much of a factor obesity is in relation to a person's medical history, they could have had many ailments even if they were thin. That being said, I fear my mother's medical history. A young stroke, 44, a heart attack and second stroke, 60. and I have made peace that this is a viable option for me. I owe it to myself and my family to have the very best quality of life I can. The gravity of weight loss surgery is not lost on me, I'm fully aware, and I think this is the best option I have in conjunction with diligent compliance and exercise. I am hoping to get the DS surgery and work hard to live the rest of my life in a normal sized body.
