Hey all - thanks for all the ongoing messages especially around the time of my anniversary. (Ok, so I'm a little late in updating my page and responding to the many notes! Oopsies!) Anyway, life today is sooo different. Much like Maureen (a CT post-op) was saying at a recent pre-op meeting, I sometimes struggle to remember that former person I was. I remember mighty quickly when I see someone who is as heavy as I was and seems to be struggling to just smile and be ok. So painful to see. Anyway - today, I'm beginning to develop a program for pre-ops that enable them to get out there and move (in a fitness center with me 1:1) so that they can get ready for surgery as well as (ideally) to adhere to the mandate that they must lose 'x' amount of lbs pre-operatively. Then, for post-ops, I'm working on a program where I'd work with a group of no more than 4 newly-post-op folks and begin to build a fitness program that would familiarize them with equipment and begin to build a diverse fitness regimen to maximize that initial weight loss period. Seriously, who'd have thought I'D be doing something like this? My gym is already buying into it and I'm going to be getting certified to be a trainer in order to be able to work with my peers in this capacity. Still such a dream to me. I only want to work with gastric bypass patients as I feel this is a largely forgotten community of hard-working people who are making a huge change in their lives and I wish to support it. It also keeps me honest and that's important. What do you guys think?

Anahid, Happy 3rd Anniversary! What a huge accomplishment to be 3 years past surgery and still going strong. It is truly inspirational to all of us newer post ops to see that long term success is really within our reach. I saw pictures of you recently from the Walk in September. Looking good girl! Best wishes on continued success and don't beat yourself up when you have bad days. You are doing a great job! Enjoy your 4th year of your re-birth! terri
