Line of Luna bars

"I have tried almost every bar in the Luna line, and there's only one I don't like the taste of. These bars are par excellence. Low calories, high protein without the "protein-y" taste of most other bars. These are excellent. A bit high in price at some stores, but still worth the money at twice the price, to me anyway. "

Chicken Soup Protein Powder

"I tried the new Unflavored Unjury and it was incredible. No flavor, no odor, and no texture .. I despise protein powders and didn't believe the hype, but it's true. I mixed 2 parts powder to 1 part warm broth, and the texture barely changed at all (it thickened *very* slightly.) The taste and aroma were not affected. At all. :) I would love to rate this product as "excellent" across the board, but it is somewhat expensive, at $1.00 a scoop! Totally worth it though. It was ordered on Thursday and delivered Monday .. the customer service seems excellent."

Weight Management Center at St. Charles

"The hospital is being revamped to handle mostly bariatric patients. In this respect, I think it will be wonderful when it is complete. It's a work in progress. I am updating this review to clarify some points. The hospital is what I reviewed above. The actual clinic (where the patients do all the pre-op stuff) .. that's another story. The place is in a state of near-constant chaos. They have a large patient volume, and you can feel rushed and then forgotten in the very next minute. This next part is of especial importance to fellow LapBand patients. The staff of WMC, with a couple of exeptions, are EXTREMELY pro-RNY. At nearly every appointment, I have heard serious misinformation about the Band and had the staff try, subtly, to talk me into the RNY instead. Even after my Band surgery, the discouragement continues. This disappoints me, but I can't find real issues with the actual care I received at the hospital itself. "

Louis Martin

"I didn't meet Dr. Martin until 5 days before my surgery, when I was signing consents. I have issues with some of the other staff members, so I was reserving judgment about WMC until I met the surgeon of my choice. I knew Dr. Martin was the most experienced Lap-Band surgeon in my area, so I was willing to give him a chance. I liked him immediately. He is very charming, with a disarming sense of humor. At the same time, he is very professional and knowledgeable about the different procedures he and his staff perform. He is patient, answering all questions (although our talk was so thorough that he answered most of my questions before I asked him.) He has a Lap-Band of his own, and though I didn't ask him any personal questions about it, I liked that he has been on the other side of the knife. He's fit and trim, too; a great advertisement for the Band! The aftercare is pretty structured; as a Band patient, I have several more visits to look forward to for fills, etc. I can't say enough about what a great guy Dr. Martin is. His bedside manner was wonderful .. first thing after my surgery he sought out my husband and complimented me to him about what a "great job" I'd done losing weight prior to surgery. On my first visit back to him after surgery, he complimented me to his nurse, in my hearing. He didn't have to do these things, but I treasure them and draw encouragement from them often. I can't think of any negatives about Dr. Martin himself .. I would recommend him without the slightest reservation."
