A Year Out...

Dec 04, 2010

So I thought I would be super sexy slim by this time of year, but I'm not. lol... It has been wonderful though. I cant complain , I;m off of high blood pressure meds, my back  and knees are not hurting do to my excessive weight. So I am truly blessed. I often get into the rut of looking at the person next to me. For the most part people have lost a lot more weight than i have and in a shorter period of time.  Thats neither here nor there. I am happy and healthy and the weight will come off, with my consistent healthy eating and working out. Again I'm so grateful to have even gotten this far. I started out at a size 58 waist and now im in a 46-48 so I cant complain. I will just keep hustling and grinding to reach my goal of 225, I currently stand around 345 from my weight of 489.

I gotta get on my grind!

Apr 24, 2010

Yo, whats up people? It has been a minute since I posted here on OH...  a few reasons, but mostly because I have no progress to report. I got my labs back and the only things that was low was my vit D, so im taking 10000 iu and now its great! I have been at 359-370 back in forth for 2 months pretty much. I dont know what I;m doing wrong, but I need to work harder to get this weight off before this window of opportunity passes. Today the scale reads 367 my goal weight is 225. Which seems light years away. Please hit me up with any work out tips or food suggestions... i honestly feel like im failing at this. I just need to work harder like I did before surgery. At this point I have still lost more weight pre surgery than post surgery. Keep me lifted in your prayers and dont hesitate to send me any suggestions to boost my weight loss. Be blessed!

Walking a mile in my shoes...

Feb 09, 2010

Yo whats up everyone?

January was a quite uneventful month of weight loss for me... I tried working out, but I was just too tired all the time. I met a friend on here who told me to focus on my arms to start with the weights. So I did as he said and bought a 40 lb set of dumbells....AWESOME... I mean I'm not buff or anything but seeing any kind of improvement  from stagnation is great to me. I did force myself to start working out, Leslie Sansone.... yeah the walking dvd lady... I felt really really lame at first doing what she is doing. But she teaches you how to walk a mile in 15 minutes. That has been extremely beneficial  for me. It still feel lame, but it works I'm now down ot the size I was as a College Junior. How much you ask? 376... While that  may seem like a huge number still, I hadnt seen it since May of 2003. With the weights and the walking I feel like there is no stopping me now! I started back with my protein shakes even though they still dont taste as good as they did before surgery lol.

I said all of that to say, even when you dont see results... push through it!! We were all given a chance to live a better life and if you are determined to be a more healthy and stronger person you can do just that. Be more than what people said you could be, do more than you  ever thought you could. You and I can make it together as long as we keep supporting each other and holding ourselve accountable!

Many blessings to you all!

The Stall...What Am I Doing Wrong?

Jan 10, 2010

It has been a while since I've posted. I have not been working out as much as I should, if at all...
I really dont know what workouts to do or anything like that. So its has most definitely been challenging to say the least. I dont want to be the guy who had the surgery but didnt lose the weight. I know the process can be up and down for awhile, but I want to make sure my maximizing my potential at the same time. The lack of guidance or natural inclination to workout  has been the worst part of it all. Once I'm in a routine or no what to do it is easy for me to pick it up and to go with it at full force! Any advice is welcome. I'll holla at you all later.

i.AM.feeling.AMAZING.

Dec 09, 2009

HELLO, THIS RIDE HAS BEEN CRAZY SO FAR. I STARTED FEELING BETTER LAST WEEK AROUND MY 3 WEEK MARK. I AM STILL GETTING USE TO MY NEW STOMACH AND EVERYTHING DOESNT ALWAYS FEEL NORMAL PER SE. BUT I FEEL GREAT.

STILL SEEING WHAT I CAN AND CANNOT EAT, ITS KINDA EXCITING. PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO NOTICE THE WEIGHT LOSS. i DONT SEE IT, BUT I GUESS THATS FINE. IT HAS TAKEN 28 YEARS TO GET THIS BIG AND I DONT EXPECT IT TO GO AWAY OVERNIGHT.

I DO WONDER HOW I WILL FEEL ONCE MY FAT IS GONE AND PEOPLE APPROACH ME, HOW ILL ACT TOWARD THEM. I WAS CONFIDENT IN WHO I WAS BEFORE, BUT I KINDA USED MY WEIGHT AS A DEFENSE MECHANISM... SO THAT SHALL BE INTERESTING.

WHO KNOWS, I MAY EVEN FIND THE WIFE OUT THERE THAT GOD HAS FOR ME! SO EXCITED ABOUT MY NEW LIFE!

I JUST WANNA THANK EVERYONE FOR SHARING THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES WITH ME, THAT MEANS SO MUCH AND HAS MADE THE BEGINNING OF THIS JOURNEY MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE, YOU ALL ARE PRICELESS!

BE BLESSED!

4 days out... Finally on the loser's bench!

Nov 15, 2009

Hey what's up everyone?

This has been a strange few days lol... The surgery took a little over an hour. I think the worst experience I would have to say was waiting in the waiting room. Time moved so slow, my palms were sweating and I was having second thoughts. lol. I saw my doc and he calmed me all of my worries. The next thing that I know I was waking up in my hospital room.

I got no sleep though. The staff was awesome they were very encouraging and helped me to push past the pain and walk it out. BEST ADVICE EVER!

I'm still getting use to the way liquid flows down it feels really strange. The gas is horrible, it is really uncorfortable. If there is anything else I could say I'm still in some pain, but keeping all things in perspective I feel great. I;m so thankful for the people that I have met so far and I'm open to the advice and knowledge you all have.

Be blessed!

Aetna Approval

Oct 27, 2009

So, I got a letter of denial from Aetna yesterday. The letter stated that they had not received my 3 month nutrition course info.
I am now really frustrated because I know for a fact that they received that info on October 7th. I had myself sent a copy of all the material that was sent to the insurance company. So I called my surgeons office and they verified my suspicions that this was just a delay tactic since my case wasn’t approved within the 2 week time limit that they have to either approve or deny coverage.

I really believe that delay does not mean denial, but come on! I’m anxious, nervous and excited all at the same time.
