I got my Staples out. Woot and another 13 pounds GONE!

Feb 24, 2016

Yay I am Metal free. Well im metal free on the outside. lol I got my staples removed. Felt great to get them out. I also lost another 13 pounds this week. I am down to 416 pounds. It would be nice to keep losing at a 10-15 pound weight loss a week. I know it will slow down but ehh still nice to see. I hope everyone is doing well on their weight loss journey. I have to go back to the surgeon in 4 weeks. I cant wait to see the difference 4 weeks makes. :) Once i go back I will get to resume my Water Aerobics! I am stoked about that.

Now my biggest hurdle is remebering to take my vitamins and medicine on time .

SURGERY IS DONE AND I AM HOME

Feb 12, 2016

I HAD MY SURGERY 2/8/2016 and got home last night 2/11/2016. I am so so so happy to be home. I was so nice to sleep for more than 30 minutes at a time with hearing "time to take your vitals or something" even if its something that they have to do.

I had to wait a week cause my WBC was 20k and still dont know why it was so high. So I had a follow up Blood work (cbc) and it was 3k and the Dr Vig (the surgeon) and my hemotologist were both ok with me having the surgery.

I didnt have the hiatal hernia repair but to my surgeons shock and everyone else's he had to perform an umbilical hernia repair. I am one of those friends who when they have a cold everyone in your circle of friends knows it. Yeah!! so I was pretty rough in the recovery. I really didnt mean to be. Imagine a contraction hitting with no warning. The nurse explained to me my muscles didnt like being sewn together and made to work together after all this time of not working together. the spasms do stop though.

I lost my core strength.OMG just a cut of the knife and all that work and its GONE. I know i gotta work to get it back but its crazy how you have it then you dont.

Thank you percocet for an awesome night sleep. i slept for 3 hours straight. I love how this medicine makes me think 50 minutes into taking it "I can walk down to the stop sign." then 3  hours into it im thinking "OMG i have another hour before I can take another pill. I got this!"

If i can give a word of advice to anyone about to go in soon who may be reading. Drink sip sip sip so you can get off the saline drip faster. you will gain weight on it even if it is water weight. " Dont try to be superwoman/man. Let family/friends help AND SAY THANK YOU.

Good luck in your journey. Time for a percocet. weeeee

EGD Scheduled

Oct 01, 2015

I have my EGD scheduled for October 15th. I have my pre-op Oct 12. They will pass a camera with a light down my throat into my stomach to check for any Hiatal Hernias or Ulcers. If any are found he will fix them at the time of the Gastric Bypass Surgery. I also talked with him about scheduling and apparently my surgery will be sometime in January. Possibly as of Late January. It is getting closer and closer. So i am looking at a Jan 19th or Jan 26th surgery date. He told me after my last Nutrition consult i can come back and we will file the Insurance approval. In the meantime im still learning and losing weight!

Cardio Clearance Passed and another 15 pounds gone!

Sep 15, 2015

  15 POUNDS GONE!!!!!

I got my Results back from my cardio clearance and all is great. So now I don't have to go back to him until 3 months after the WLS just as a follow up with him. I had my 3rd Nutrition Visit 2nd class and we learned about the Pre-surgery Liquid Diet and the Oral Supplements I will be on the rest of my life. Because I am already anemic and B-12 deficient it does play a little bit of a factor in keeping it more in check but nothing that we cant manage.

I am excited. Now that I have the Cardio clearance I can schedule my EGD (Upper Endoscopy) for October to see if I have a hiatal Hernia or Acid Reflux. If I do Dr Vig will fix it at the time of surgery.    I have 2 more classes then one personal meet with the dietitian.

I really am relived though after going to the class and learning about the 2 week liquid diet. It isn't as bad as it sounds. It actually is a lot. Ive already started replacing 1 meal a day with a protein shake just to get used to it. But wow the stuff you can have during the liquid diet while you shrink your liver is ALOT.

Psych Evaluation and cardiac stress test complete

Sep 02, 2015

YAY! I passed my Psych Evaluation for the surgery! So I'm not crazy after all!  Well I am but I wasn't gonna tell her that. lol

So I have all the parts of my Cardiac Clearance done.  I had an EKG, Echocardiogram and a Stress Test.  If you never had a stress test done be prepared to sit and lay down (in that time) for about 4 hours. It is a long one. They used a chemical and I got to walk on the tredmill too.  It isnt the most comfortable test to have done but if you are like me very intersted in how things work maybe they will turn the touch screen your way so you can watch the monitor as the pictures are coming up on the screen during the picture taking process of your heart.

I go Wednesday Sept 9th for my results of the Cadiac stuff and my 3rd Dietician Visit (2nd class) and I get to weigh in again.

Class 1 is done!

Aug 09, 2015

Class 1 with for the Nutritional Class is complete. You do learn quite a bit in there. I had 3 behaviors to work on.

1.  Eat protein with every meal/snack.       I did this one with 100%!

2. Take at least 20 minutes to complete a meal.   This one I got about 70%. Its hard to do when you have distractions.

3. 60 minutes of water aerobics 4 times a week.     I did this one with 100%!

My new goals this month are:

1. Switch all drinks to 100% sugar free.

2. Put utensils down between bites and pause for 1 minute. (this can help with the taking 20 minutes to eat)

3. Continue pool exercise and add 15 minutes walking 3 times a week.

The biggest thing in this is trying to eliminate distractions (ie. phone, computer, kids, and so on. )

I go for my cardio clearance, Psychiatry evaluation for the surgery, and physical therapy meet this month.
