8 Weeks Post Op RNY, down 59.2 Lbs...almost at 60, lol.

Mar 30, 2017

I'm a day late with this post; yesterday was actually my 8 week surgiversary.  I was down to 244.8 this morning.  Last week I was 246, so that's a 1.2 Lb loss.  Last week that would have drove me mad, but this week I"m thrilled as my weight actually went up to 248 4 days ago.

I've been very uncomfortable because I was (TMI) constipated for 7 days.  I take restorolax and senokot every single day, and for 3 days added correctol, but nothing. So I know the weight fluctuations were because of that, and also because I transitioned to soft foods this week.

When I was pre op I couldn't understand why WLS people talked about constipation so much.  OMG, now I totally understand.  I had to eat some mini bite sized prunes last night as my snack.  It worked!  I need to add more fibre into my diet.  I was eating high protein oatmeal for breakfast for over 2 weeks, and losing weight nicely, about 5 Lbs a week, but then I got worried about carbs and cut it out.  I think that was a mistake, as I went very low carb for 2 weeks and my weight loss slowed weigh down.  Maybe it would have slowed anyway; I don't know, but I think I'll add the high protein oatmeal back in.  I add vanilla premier protein to it to thin it out after it's cooked, and it comes to 22 grams of protein, which is very good for breakfast.  The only breakfast higher in protein is when I have a shake.

So, I'm down 59.2 Lbs so far; almost 60 Lbs.  That's great, and I'm happy with it. The NSV's are great too; I fit into another older bra that I couldn't even get into preop, and it fits so nicely.  My old bras are huge on me.  I put on a pre op top last night and wore it as a nightshirt; it's so big.  Just swims on me.  My face is back down again, after being swollen and puffy for a week, so that's good.

I'm feeling so much better; the pneumonia is gone and I've been walking almost every day. I only missed 2 out of 7 days due to heavy rain. I was even able to walk along the boardwalk, next to the river.  The snow is mostly melted off the boardwalk; there were only a few places where I had to skirt around the snow.  It will be so nice when it's finally gone.

I've been having fun wearing make up again, and experimenting with facial and body creams. I have rosacea and think I finally found a day cream with SPF that doesn't bother my rosacea.  It is called Garnier Skinactive Clearly Brighter, with SPF 30. I really like it.  I also got some samples of night cream but have been afraid to try them because my last rosacea flare was so bad, and it just went down.  I've just been using coconut oil on my face at night, and it's working wonderfully, and seems to have reduced my rosacea.  It's very soothing and so far hasn't caused me to break out. It also got rid of my chapped lips, and smells lovely, like coconuts.

I tried on everything in my wardrobe, and it felt amazing to see how many tops and pants are now way too big.  I have to give most of them away, but I'm going to keep the T-shirt material ones to wear around the house or as nightshirts; no sense buying new nightshirts when these will work.  I don't like tight nightwear anyway.  A lot of the tops that were too tight before now fit, but a lot are already too big and I somehow missed the timeframe where they would have fit nicely, lol.  Oops.  Soon I'll need new clothes, and I can't wait!

I'm so glad the scale finally moved down again.  I know I'll have fluctuations and stalls, but it really messed with my mind. I actually got scared that the weight loss was over and I was somehow back to my normal pre-op self.  I told myself that wasn't true, and I knew why I was having problems but still, that anxiety was there, in the back of my mind.  I mostly ignored it but was mad it was there at al.

I had a nice visit with my best friend on Friday and Saturday, so all in all, it was a great week.
