9 Weeks Post Op, down 62.4 Lbs!

Apr 05, 2017

Woohoo; I'm down 62.4 Lbs since Optifast!  I lost 3.2 Lbs this week; so happy the scale is moving properly again. I was 241.6 this morning, and my starting weight was 304, the day I started Opti.

I started bike riding this week, and did my first ride of the year on April 2nd.  It was a gorgeous sunny day and I was able to do 5 km my first time out. I would have gone further but I had only eaten a 1 egg omelet with a kraft singles cheddar slice, and it wasn't enough calories.  At 4 km I hit a wall of exhaustion and could barely make it home. I was dizzy and lightheaded.  The nurse in Sudbury warned me about doing too much on too few calories and said it was a real possibility that I could pass out so I need to be more careful from now on.

The next day I rode again, but made sure to have some healthy carbs with my protein (19 grams carbs), and I felt much better.  Unfortunately, it started to rain so I had to head home so it was a short 20 minute ride.  I try to keep my carbs under 50 grams, and had 35 grams of carbs total that day, so it worked out well.

It rained all that day, and all day yesterday, but it's sunny today, so if the puddles aren't terrible, I'm going to go riding again today (we had so much rain!).

I can't wait until all the snow is gone, because there are a lot of cool little trails I like to ride on, but they are still full of snow.  The streets and sidewalks are clear though, so that's good.  It felt funny, riding past snowbanks, lol.  Hopefully the rain will have melted lots of the snow.

I accidentally left my gel seat cover in the garage over the winter and it's rock hard now.  I hope it will go back to normal once the weather is warmer.  It was only 3 Celcius (37.4 Farenheit) on my second bike ride, so rather cold for a ride.  It's only 3 Celcius now, but supposed to go up to 10 C (50 F) this afternoon, so much nicer!

I signed up for the Great Cycle Challenge Canada and pledged to ride 75 km in June, and try to raise $500.00 to fight Children's Cancer.  The money goes to the Sick Kids Foundation, which raises money for the Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto.  So far I'm the only one who sponsored myself, lol, to get the ball rolling. I posted on FB but only a few people saw my post.  I'll have to ask my cousin Jane for help; she's organising things like this.  I've never tried to raise money for a cause before.  She did the cancer walk last year.

My NSV's this week are kind of nice. I went to a family party on the weekend, and saw many relatives for the first time since pre-op, and others I haven't seen for a few weeks or more.  They were all amazed by how different I look.  My uncle Buck, who saw me 3 weeks ago, looked at me, eyes wide, and said, "Is that you, Kathy?  Are you even the same girl?"  LOL. Everyone complimented me.

Another NSV, family related, is that people are making sure I feel included in family gatherings by letting me know they'll always have foods I can eat on hand so I won't feel left out.  I was invited to a shower a few weeks ago, but I didn't go because I was on pureed foods and I didn't want my cousins to pay for my plate when I couldn't eat (the shower was at a fancy, expensive restaraunt).  My aunt (the mom of the gal who's getting married) contacted me after, and said they would have been happy to order a special plate for me, and they asked what I could eat at the wedding (in May).  I told them by then it wouldn't be a problem as I'll be on foods for life by then, and will be OK with the protein and veg portions of the meal.

Another NSV, some of the tops that were too tight before surgery are now too loose, and my new leggings that I bought last month still look OK because I bought them clingy, but I can now pull them all the way up to my bra, lol. I only have 3 bras that still fit, and they were ones I couldn't even consider wearing pre-op.  All of my lovely expensive pre-op bras are huge now.

My tops are almost all too big, including the sleeves, which boggles my mind.  All of my full length sleeves now hang way below my fingertips, flopping around, lol. I have to roll them up. I'm going to have to go shopping soon.  I think I want to wait until I lose 70 Lbs though, before I shop. So hard to believe that's only 7.6 Lbs away.  Also, I'm at 241.6, which is my lowest weight in ages.  I can't wait to get into the 230's.

Well, I'd better get moving.  Take care!
