18 Weeks Post OP, lost 87 Lbs so far!

Jun 07, 2017

Hello,

It's a glorious sunny day here in the North; I hope everyone is having a nice day.

This morning I weighed 217, down 2.2 Lbs since last week, and 87 Lbs altogether; woohoo!

My BMI was 52.2 when I started, and today is 37.2.  I'm still in the Obese catgory but no longer Super Morbidly Obese, or even Morbidly Obese.  It feels nice to get rid of the word "morbidly", although the word "super" was kind of nice, lol.  It's the first time I was super anything, lol.

I've been active (maybe even super active, lol) every day, and went for several bike rides, a few swims, and a few walks.  One day I did 7 km on my bike, another day 19 km, and yesterday I did 15 km.  I am readlly enjoying riding in this weather, although the wind makes it hard at times.  Yesterday the wind almost blew me over, so I had to stop for awhile, but it was nice as I picked a park bench overlooking the river and enjoyed the view. I saw several freighters and a cruise ship go by, as well as several bush planes.  I also read for awhile, but then I felt cold so I had to start riding again.

I have to go shopping for some capris or shorts with the nice weather and hope I can find some that will fit OK.

I had my first instance of dumping the day before yesterday.  I had steak and 2 tbsp of peas for supper.  My pouch tolerates steak really well and I eat it often.  We buy good cuts of meat that are usually very tender.  I don't know if this piece was just too dry because it was left over and I reheated it in the microwave, if it was too fatty, or if the peas were the problem, but I sure had a rough time.  I was fine for 20 minutes after eating, and then I took my multivitamin and my stomach started to hurt.  So maybe I didn't wait long enough and that vitamin was "one bite too many".  Not sure.  I foolishly decided to go for a bike ride.  I started sipping my water 30 minutes after the meal, and felt nauseated, but water sometimes does that so I kept going  Every sip got worse, and soon (TMI) I was crampy and burping and feeling miserable.  Then my mouth got too moist, almost slimy and I realized something was wrong, either the foamies or dumping or something.  I turned my bike around and raced for home . I took a main road rather than sticking to side streets like I usually do, so was able to get home in 7 km rather than 8.  I ran up the stairs to the bathroom and made it JUST in time...really bad diarhea. Thank God I made it home in time; whew!  I was sweating and clammy and felt super tired.  I lay down, fell asleep and didn't wake up until noon the next day, and I fell asleep at around 8 PM!  It was crazy.

Yesterday I was afraid to eat so I just had decaff coffee mixed with lots of premier protein for breakfast.  I brought a Gatorade G2 and a protein bar on my bike ride.  I drank most of the G2 but only could manage 3 small bites of the protein bar.  I rode 15 km and felt fine.  When I came home, I had chicken stir fry for dinner, and made sure to add plenty of salsa and some ranch dressing to the chicken to make it moist, and it went down well and didn't bother my stomach at all.

I bought a Fitbit Flex 2 last week and put it through it's paces and does great on tracking swimming, but not so great on tracking bike riding or walking.  In the winter I'll just be swimming for exercise, and we have super long winters here in the North (we have snow from October to April most years) so I'll probably keep it.  I use Map my Walk and Map my Ride and it does a better job of tracking my walking and bike riding, but my fitbit is connected to MyFitnessPal, which is connected to Map my Walk and Ride, so they all get recorded...if that makes any sense.

I can't believe I'm only 3 Lbs away from the next decade, and only 13 Lbs away from  100 Lb loss; woohoo.  I never thought I'd get this close this quickly.  Then once I hit that, I'll only have 4.1 Lbs to go to hit Onederland.  The next few months are going to be fun!

I signed up for the Great Cycle Challenge Canada and pledged to ride 100 km in the month of June.  I've already ridden 42 km in the first week, so I"m well on my way.  I rode over 111 km for the month of May and 2 or 3 days in April, so I know I can do it.  Maybe I should have made the goal harder, but I won't ride in the rain and June has been pretty rainy so far, which is why I only got to ride 3 times so far.  Today will make 4, and tomorrow it is supposed to rain again.

Well, I'd better get moving. I still need to do my Youtube Video.  I'm Shrinking Kathy there, if anyone wants to follow me.

Take care, and have a great day!
