21 Weeks Post Op RNY Surgery, 25.5 km bike ride
Jun 28, 2017
Another week down, another 2.6 Lbs lost, for a total of 94.2 Lbs gone; woohoo! I'm so close to my first 100 Lbs gone that I can taste it, lol. Only 5.8 Lbs to go to 204 Lbs, which is exactly 100 Lbs lighter than my starting weight of 304 Lbs...which I weighed in January of this year. Wow! I NEVER, ever would have believed I could lose this much this fast. I remember wondering if it would be possible to lose 50 Lbs by my birthday in June, and instead, I lost over 90 by my birthday last week. Doing the happy dance!
I actually weighed in a day early (yesterday) because I wanted to record my weekly progress video for YouTube a day early because my best friend Laurie came to town today (so my loss might have been even more, but I didn't have the heart to get on the scales to see this morning, lol). I'm Shrinking Kathy on YouTube, if anyone wants to follow me there. I post weekly update videos, and sometimes do extra videos showing my hikes or bike rides or shopping hauls/what I eat in a day, etc. It's a great community and I love watching other weight loss surgery patients. The support there is unbelievable, plus it keeps me accountable.
It was great seeing Laurie today! We grew up together; she lived next door, and I've known her since she was 2 and I was 4. I'm 53 now, so that's 49 years of friendship! Crazy!
I set a goal to ride my bike for 100 km in the month of June, and I hit that goal and surpassed it. I did a bit over 133 km so far this month. There are still 2 days left, but it's raining so I don't know if I'll be able to go again before the month is through. I did 111 km last month, so I've ridden 244 km so far this spring/summer. I'm hoping to reach 500 km before the snow flies, so I'm almost half way there. I also swim and walk, but if the sun is shining, I choose bike riding over the other two activities, and try to save the pool for rainy days.
I did a 25.5 km bike ride this past weekend. It took me 2.5 hours to ride that far, and I also stopped in a pretty riverside park to have a picnic supper. I read and relaxed for awhile before I kept going. Here are some photos from that ride:
It was great fun, and I went to the very end of the bike trail this time before I turned back:
As fun as it was, it wasn't enough. I want more, lol, so I am planning my very first overnight bikepacking trip. I bought a cute little tent and some other items for the trip, but still need a few more. I'll do a seperate post about that though.
I hope everyone (anyone) reading this is having a great week!
Take care,
Kathy
