28 Weeks Post Op

Aug 16, 2017

I lost 3.8 Lbs this week; woohoo!  That's my biggest weekly loss in weeks and weeks.  So I'm down 109.4 Lbs now, and weighed 194.6 this morning.  I always feel so great when I get below the 5 in each decade, lol.

In NSV's; I put a hole in my capris and needed a new pair and was able to fit into a medium.  They're tight but they look OK, not too tight, and I like the way they hold in my tummy when they're a bit tighter.  I'm wearing the same capris in size medium, large, and XL now...the XL have been designated as pajama bottoms though, as they're so roomy now.  I also have a pair of shorts in size XL that are several inches too big in the waiste. They still have the tags so I'm going to see if I can exchange them for a smaller size.  If not...they'll be pajama bottoms too, lol.

Yesterday I met with an old friend for the first time in over 30 years.  She's actually the little sister of a close school friend, but she was in town with her family and wanted to meet up, so I was able to meet her husband and two adorable kids for the first time. It was great to see her, and I realized I was actually looking forward to meeting them all, instead of worrying about how terrible I look and how she'd wonder why I let myself go, the way I used to think pre-op.  Every social event I attended pre-op was anxiety provoking to me because of the way I looked.  It's so nice to not bear that burden any more.

In not so good news, I have a terribly itchy allergic rash all over my arms, back, chest, breast, and a bit on my legs.  My doctor said it could be my soap, deodorant, or laundry detergent causing it.  The breasts are the worse; so itchy.  I need to go buy some Tide Free and Clear, or whatever it's called.  It's hypoallergenic and has no fragrance, so hopefully will help.

My doctor was really happy with my weight loss; I've lost another 15 Lbs since I last saw him, and he seemed proud that I've already lost over 100 Lbs.

I'm still waiting for my 6 month post op appointments with Sudbury, via telehealth. I finally called and asked if I should have scheduled them myself and they apologized and said no, that they were just really running behind due to their schedules, and I probably won't get appointments until sometime in September.  August 1st was my 6 month post of surgiverary, so they're over a month behind.  I asked them to at least send in my blood work papers so I could get my blood work done before the meetings, and they said they would.

I kind of wanted to talk to the nutritionist at least, although she gives me bad advice.  I'm not sure how many calories I should be taking in now.  I was taking in 500-550 calories a day, including at least 60 grams of protein, under 30 grams of carbs, but was getting hungry and feeling weak and headachy.  Plus my weight loss slowed right down.  So last week I increased my calories for 5 out of 7 days.  For 2 days I ate 640 calories, one day I ate 700 calories, and 1 day got almost up to 800 calories, which was too much but easily done because the pepperette snacks I like are pretty high calorie and I had 2 of them that day.  For the remaining 2 days I could only manage 550 calories.  Yesterday I only had 13 carbs, but for some days last week I went up to almost 50 carbs.  Whatever I did, it helped get my weight loss going again.

Also, someone suggested that my rash could be a keto rash, which is why I increased my carbs for some days.  I did notice the rash seemed to improve after a few days of eating higher carbs, and after going back down to super low carbs, it is worse again.  I read about it and some say it happens more for people with allergies/histimine intolerances. I take 2 antihistimines a day normally anyway, so I don't know why it isn't helping much.  The itch gets much worse at night.

In other bad news, my truck broke down again and my mechanic is sick so I'm without a vehicle.  I wanted to go back to camp after my doctor's appointment tomorrow (I'm having a big skin tag on my back removed).
