Hi Laura... My name is Debi Mahaney... You have been such an inspiration to me...You have seen all the same people I have seen, and you had your surgery! I hope you are doing well! I too am having to go thru almost everything u have had to go thru! I too, have Dr. Asbun, I already met with Anne, Karol and Linda, the psychologist...I too am being sent to a cardiologist by Dr. Asbun, cuz I did phen-fen in 1997 for a few weeks! I also had to go to the ob doc, cuz it's been 3 years, had to have an upper gi, met w/ the cardiologist (Dr. Van Gemeren) he scheduled me for a chemical treadmill test on Jan 28th and 29th, I had to have a breathing test with a pulmonologist,(DR. Saffianoff) and I go for my sleep study on Jan. 17th! I too, am soooo impatient, each appt. has turned in to 3 more appointments it seems like! I guess it's like having a head to toe, inside and outside physical though, which I'm sure I would not normally have done, so I really should be grateful I suppose. My 1st support group meeting was back in Oct. 2002, and here it is jan 2nd 2003, and I thought for sure I would have had surgery by now. Here I work at Mt. D, and my own insurance refuses to cover the surgery that they perform there!!! How frustrating! The good news is...that as of yesterday, they changed our provider or something like that, and now Ann thinks they just might approve it! I sure hope so after all I am going thru with all these appointments, and after all I've already done! I thought for sure I would have had surgery and lost maybe 40 lbs by now, but I guess all good things take time...please write and let me know how u are doing...Maybe I'll see you at an upcoming support meeting...Take good care, and please, keep in touch....thanx....Deb :-)
