~*~I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all

Linda, Thank you for you wonderful post. I can totally relate to it. As I come from an obese family, and now have a 13yr old son that is morbidly obese. It is so hard to watch him growing up going through problems I had to face only his earlier in life then mine. I have tried a lot of what you mentioned but also find that as a kid no matter what we try they do find away around it. What I mean by this is sneaking it behind our backs or when they are out at friends or just off on their on and have their allowance to spend.... making the wrong choices, but as a child they don't see it as a wrong choice but as being normal as that is what their peers are doing, buying and eating candy and cookies. As far as the sports go my son loves sports but is turned away from by the coaches as he is to over weight to run as fast as they want and in stead of the schools helping to get the kids moving, they only think about the team winning! Lunches at the schools are awful and as A junior high or high school student the parent has little control over what the child eats and the food choices are not like in the days I was in school, fast food pizza, nachos and hamburgers are often the choices. Its just as it as always been society revolves around food, and the schools, they just want the kids to eat while there to keep the brain waves a moving. I guess as parents we can only attempt to make all the right choices and improve our children's chances at a better way of life then obesity has to offer. I just know I for one am having a hard time getting my son on the right train as I have been working on it the past couple years and his weight continues to go up and up. thanks again for your post and for letting me vent. I also want to say that I have been reading your profile along my journey and you have been a very big inspiration to me. hugs and God Bless Maureen

Linda, Thank you for your post on Peter H. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. I too lost a WLS friend a year ago yesterday. Her name was Katherine Hunt. I know what you're going through. Life is too short. Sorry for your loss.

Linda THANK YOU for the wonderful (even tho very sad) tribute to Pete. I remember watching the Oprah show when I heard about him. I had just started the process myself to have the surgery and found his story so inspiring. I had emailed him a few times and he always answered. He was one terrific guy. God bless him and his family and friends. Jamie
