Lisa, Hi! I read your post and have to be honest and say that cutting out breads, pasta, pototaos, ect. are cruicial to your weightloss success! Those items are racked with carbs! I am only 4 weeks & 4 days post op and haven't even gotten to the point where my Dr. is allowing veggies of any kind and certain heavy foods. For me personally, I am lucky if I can eat an ounce of chicken at one sitting. I can't even think about trying a sausage, which is very rough and hard to chew into smithereens..please try to cut back on the amounts your eating in one sitting as well...this too might be hindering your ability to loose...(Open RNY 7/15/02 -40+ in 4 weeks, 4 days). Smiles,

Hi Lisa, I am responding to your post on the message board. I had the same problem with my diet I had lost 36lbs and could not get anymore off. I had several folks on WLS respond to me and I think you need to up your protein and liquids and cut out the carbs. I have cut them out completely and lost 3 more lbs instantly. I hope this helps no breads, potatoes, rice or noodles or sugar. Try this and see if it helps. ö¿~

Girl, what are you eating!! I am five months out and still do not eat red meat! WOOOO! Also, if you are drinking while you are eating you are pushing that food out of your pouch and all the nutrients are being lost. Which also means that you are able to eat more. You have been through a lot, do not let it all go to waste!! Take your time with what you eat, stick to high protein foods and chew chew chew, but DO NOT drink while you eat.

I'm sorry if I've missed something here. Did you have RNY? If so, I can't believe a doctor would okay your eating bread, beef or sausage at 4 weeks postop. If I'm wrong here, I apologize, I just couldn't believe what I was reading in your post today.

Hi Lisa! You're doing great, girl. Don't worry about the plateau. It's completely natural. It gives your body a chance to adjust to the massive changes taking place. It's good for your body, actually. I experienced a plateau after three weeks. Now, I'm two months out and I've lost 47 pounds! Keep up the good work, OK? This surgery WORKS!!!!!

Lisa: Read your comment on the message board - you are doing GREAT! I am 5'4' and started at approximately the same weight. I had surgery on 6/28/02 and at 6 weeks post op am down 33 lbs. I, too experienced a plateau at 4 weeks and upon researching the library, saw that it is so common and normal. It is natural to experience doubt and concern about a slow weight loss. I read of others who have lost so much more than me but, we are all created differently. As we're told time and time again - us "lightweights" (hard to think of myself as a lightweight anywhere) lose slower but, it will happen. Keep the faith! 33 lbs GONE FOREVER! -Sandy

Lisa is doing really well. She had to go back home to Indiana for the weekend because of a death in her family. She is graduating to "mush" and her pain is getting minimal. She has the internet back up and running and will more than likely update everything with you guy when she can. Please stil show some encouragement for her as she is finding it hard to keep on her mush diet. Love you Lisa and I will be joining you VERY soon!!! :-)

Lisa, the first few weeks are all about just healing your tummy pouch. Tolerate what you can of sugar free jello, carnation instant breakfast, decaf warm tea, etc. It does get better, I promise! Check out my before photo & Memorial weekend photo one year later... http://www.ranchoweb.com/folder/3334 and best of luck to ya! Barb B.

Good evening everyone. No, my computer is not up and running yet... it really stinks. Neither is Lisa's. I have a virus and Lord only knows what happened to hers! Anyways, Lisa is doing well. The pain has eased some and she is up and aroung a little. She is having a really hard time with not eating any solid foods. I know she doesn't have a computer right now, but it would be really nice is you guys could write her an e-mail or put something on her surgery page on how you coped with the first 2 weeks. I know it is hell and she needs not only some words of encouragement, but also some helpful tips on how she can curb her appitite. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she continues to make her journey. I talked to her this afternooon and she told me that she has lost a pound a day since Sunday, July 21! YAY LISA!!! That is sooo exciting! I am looking forward to being there, too! So please, please, go give her some tips and tidbits to ponder in these rough times!
