5 Months Out

Jul 08, 2010

Well it's been a little over 5 months since my surgery. I've lost about 65lbs. I feel great. I'm more confident in my own skin. My marriage is spicier. I've consistently lost weight since my surgery with a prolonged stall recently. I'm hoping and praying that a fill yesterday will help push me over the 250 mark. It's been since I was in the Navy that I was under 250lbs. the most important thing that I've received from my Lap Band is the fact that my diabetes is completely under control. Went from a pre-op A1C of 9.1 to 5.0 three months post op. My wife and I try to walk 5k 3-4 times a week. We could be much more consistently with our exercise. there is always much more room fro improvement. With all that said. I thank God that he led my wife and I to have Lap Band. It is one of the very best decisions I've ever made.

Well I'm just a little over 2 weeks out from my surgery and feeling great. Good weight loss and good progress on being off my medications.  I figured this group could be for those of us in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. We have to relearn how we do everything. We in the Lowcountry do everything with awesome food. Now that is not to say that we can never partake, but be more cautious. It is gonna kill me to go to my first post op oyster roast but I will be strong. So, please share your achievements, back slides, hopes, and fears so we can all get through this together.

7 days and 14.5 hours

Jan 26, 2010

I'm finding myself fighting a major demon in simply craving everything and not being the slightest bit hungry. I pray after the surgery this will pass. Although this is mostly in my head thus it will be something I may have to fight with for a long time maybe forever. I'm profoundly excited and surprisingly not scared or apprehensive at all. Perhaps I will get more anxious as the surgery date gets closer. I feel I'm in the best of hands with our surgeon. I'm actually getting excited about exercising. There is this endorphin release that I'm just really discovering. More later.

First let me introduce you to me. My name is Evan and I live in one of the most beautiful places in America. I have a great job working for the Navy and I'm profoundly happily married to a wonderful woman. I've struggled with my weight since puberty. I enlisted in the Navy and still struggled greatly with my weight and it eventually ended my naval career. After the end of my short lived Navy career I went home with my tail between my legs. Only to blow up further and further. I met and married my wife how has had her own weight struggles and we have successfully enabled each other to even greater levels of obesity. So that brings us to today.  We are both getting the lap band and we could not be more excited. Right now I weigh 314 lbs. which is my heaviest ever. Between my wife and I we spend upwards of $300 a month on medications alone, and our grocery bills are astronomical. We each have diabetes and GERD, she  has High Blood Pressure, high cholesterol, and etc... so, with all that said we came to a realization that the chances of both of us sitting on a porch holding hands into our 70's or 80's together. Heck we would be lucky to reach our 60's together.

Now, we are ready for a new life a new beginnings. We are sick and tired of being sick and tired. We began this journey as most journey's today start,on line. Then we went to our first meeting on Nov. 19Th and since the we have seen the Nutritionist and exercise physiologist. Today we see the psychologist. Then alas we will be able to make an appointment with the surgeon. I've struggled as of late with the Last Super Syndrome and we just got started I have to get this under control.

Well that is all I have for now more updates to follow.
