I can hardly remember a time when I wasn't overweight, but I think that it was for a short time in 1981. I had lost 70 pounds and was thin for the first time in my life. Over the last 25 years I have regained (and lost, and regained, and lost...well, you know) that 70 pounds, plus (as of last week) another 58, through yoyo dieting and unhealthy starvation. I now have most of the comorbidities listed on my insurance and am so tired of taking pills. So, there I was, miserable and unhappy until my new cardiologist says that he thinks that I need to consider bariatric surgery. I finally was able to get set up with appointments to go to Houston for the seminar, meet the surgeon(s), have my dietary and psych eval for May 7 & 8th. I have taken all my necessary information to them and they are sending everything to my insurance company for approval. Since I understand that this can be a lengthy process, I am happy to get it rolling sooner rather than later.
