Naomi Kramer

"Dr.Kramer is very kind and thorough. She doesn't rush you at all (although this might make your waiting room stay a bit longer so be prepared with a book or activitity). A great many of her patients are super morbidly obese and she is extremely senstive to their needs. She is the wife of my PCP and together they have 3 young children, all very close in age. This is my experience as a parent and she is sensitive to what I experienced as a young mom. Her staff are very friendly and courteous. The tecnhician who got me hooked up and observed my sleep was very kind and gentle. I felt safe in her hands. Dr.Kramer is also an associate professor at Brown University Medical School. "

Warren Licht

"I love Dr.Licht. He does not keep you waiting in the examining room, shivering in your johnny. He keeps your records in his laptop which he keeps open as he chats with you. He and his wife, Dr.Kramer (my sleep doc) have three young kids, all close together; they both understand what I went through as a young mother of three kids all 14 months apart. His secretary, Kristen is the best! Dr.Licht wasn't taking new patients a few years back so my husband sees his associate, Dr. Breiding, who is also excellent. Dr.Breiding's secretary is also super (anyone who gets my husband's dark humour is okay in my book). It doesn't hurt that both these docs are cute as can be. "

Kathleen Blackledge

"I know this review sounds too glowing to be true, but Kathleen was really great! Just an example to show what a good listener she is; early in our conversation, I had mentioned having gone to art school. Later on she asked me what medium I worked in. At first I was confused, wondering how she knew I was an artist. She reminded *me* that I had mentioned art school. As for her helpfulness, she answered all my questions thoroughly and had advise to offer that I hadn't read or heard anywhere else. For instance, don't drink with a straw as this will cause you to swallow air, filling the pouch uncomfortably. She also pointed out that some patients feel tired, lacking energy for about 6 weeks and then, almost magically, recover the energy. She assured me that younger people, such as myself (36) who have no health problems other than excess weight, tend not to experience this energy lack. I look forward to meeting with her after my surgery. In the office is a scale like the one in Dr.Pohl's office. I don't know how high it goes but it goes at least as high as 378 lbs. LOL!"

Dieter Pohl

"Dr. Pohl is young, maybe in his late thirties, very early forties. He is very quiet and reserved but not unfriendly. His warmth shows in his occasional smiles. He is very thorough, and since his patient load has increased quite a bit he now requires prospective candidates to attend his monthly seminar before his office will schedule a consultation. The seminar is worthwhile as he shows video footage of the procedures (he does laproscopic, proximal RNY, and recently started performing lap band surgery). At the seminar I attended he allowed plenty of time for questions and patiently repeated himself when the questions became repetitious. The seminar was where I got a good idea of his warmth and good humor. At the seminar he handed out a 51-page, spiral bound booklet of tons of information about the surgery, possible complications, hospital stay, four stages of diet (one of them is just the one-day, post surgery water fast), exercise, possible emotional responses post-surgery, etc. It is very thorough. Regarding follow-up care; gastric bypass patients have a 2-week follow-up, followed by visits every 2-3 months for the first year. Lap Band patients have a 4-week follow up with the same schedule of follow-ups as bypass patients, for a year. Dr.Pohl's staff have so far been extremely helpful and very friendly even after working overtime. They are fabulous. KUDOS ladies! At all my pre-op procedures I heard nothing but good things from the nurses at Roger Williams where Dr.Pohl has privilages (he used to be on staff there). That speaks volumes to me. I've only met Dr.Pohl 3 times. So far, I'm very happy with him. I don't know that everyone would appreciate his reserved manner but I find his overall calm demeaner comforting. Another plus, his waiting room, although rather small, is stocked with plenty of good magazines. :)"
