I never thought I was going to be one of those people who had weight loss surgery. I had thought about it many times and researched it on and off for at least 10 years. I have been heavy my whole life, and as an adult have lost at least 100 pounds 5 times and varying amounts other times. A conservative estimate is prior to this I have lost 750 pounds in my life. While I always struggled with my weight I went from overweight to SMO after a stressful time in my life and medications I was on. I remember saying to the doctor I was gaining weight, and him saying that I needed the medicine and I would lose the weight later. Oops! that never happened. I think what precipitated the final move towards surgery was being on Weight Watchers for a year and struggling with the same 20 pounds... and then the realization I am not getting younger and the medical problems are only going to get worse. Glad to be here, and happy I had surgery on 7/23/14.
