I found this websight for the first time in 1998.  My general physician had recently asked me if I had considered surgery to help regain my health.  I really didn't have a clue as to what she was talking about.  Was there really one surgical procedure that could make slender, not a diabetic, not have high blood pressure, not be depressed?  A procedure that would allow the doctors to do the hip replacement that I desperately needed, but wouldn't do because I was so large that the risks outweighed the possible advantages?  Was there really a procedure like that???

Yes, there was and is!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  I knew NOTHING about gastric bypass surgery, so I spent the next six months researching.  That is when I found this website.  (Boy, has it changed a lot since then!)  I lurked secretly in the forums, reading what everyone else was saying for a long time before I finally entered into the "conversations."  I found much information and a little "mis-information"  but that is to be expected. Right?

I can very truthfully say that the people on this site, were my mentors, my friends, my support and a huge part of my education.  From this site I clicked my way through cyberspace to many other sources for more information always returning right here to share and learn more.

November 11, 2007 will be my eight year anniversary.  Eight healthy happy years that I might not have experienced if not for WLS.  I started out at 310lbs with a BMI of 54 and I am now a size 8 who weighs 140.  I have not had a tummy tuck or any other plastic surgery at this time.  I am just pleased as punch that I am what I am today.
