Hello, my name is Rena.  I had Lap RNY on Nov 11, 2008.  I weighed 262 at my preop, and weighed in at 245 at my 2 week postop.
I have been married to a wonderful man, Steve for 17 years, we have an amazing little girl, Nora, that I am lucky to be her Mom.  We have 2 Labs at home, Emma and Jack.   My husband is active duty Air Force and we are stationed at Patrick AFB, Fl.  We have been here for 2 and a half years.
I have been overweight most of my life, up and down.  I lost a good amount of weight before I got pregnant, and kept it off for about 2 months after my daughter was born.  Then I had a visit from post partum depression, that knocked me off my feet.  I started using food to comfort myself, and then the weight came back with a vengeance.
I thought about WLS for about a year, and set my mind to having the Lap Band.  Once I had my surgical eval, though we agreed that the RNY would be better for me.  I am still in that phase of "what was I thinking?"  But it is getting better.  I was nauseated every day, which I hate, I would rather break a bone than throw up.  I must have mentally ignored the information about how hard the first 4-6 weeks are.  I still think of food as comfort and am struggling with that.  Food has been my favorite hobby for years, and it is hard changing my mind set.  So now I am trying to keep my eyes on the future, on how I wouldn't have ever lost the weight on my own, other wise I would have already.  This will make me healthier and that is what matters.  So that is me in a nutshell.  Thanks for looking!
