My name is Rob.  I live in Wilmington, Delaware.  I have lived here for the past 25 years which is significant.  I grew up on the move.  My family moved all the time.  We lived in 35 states, Europe and South America.  So settling down has been nice.  I am happily married and have two kids, two corgis and two cats.  

At the ripe old age of 49 my primary physician told me that I might want to look into gastric bypass surgery and gave me ObesityHelp as a reference.  After twenty years of success and failure with diets and exercise I had ballooned to 340 pounds.  I was taking cholesterol meds, high blood pressure meds, anti-depressants, arthritic meds for the knees, etc.
I am basically a wreck living on borrowed time.  I am pre-diabetic and have severe sleep apnea (three years with a CPAP).  I get to work extra early to avoid having to park up the hill, and leave extra early because I get so tired.  I need to make serious changes in my lifestyle if I plan on being around for the next few years.

Here is my weight loss success since my surgery.  The only time where I gained weight was about 5 pounds during 2006 while recovering from two separate surgeries (abdominalplasty and hernia).   My increased cycling, running, and hot yoga should keep me in the upper 170's for many years.
