2/25 ... 11 days?

Well, my insurance is being a pain in the butt.  They wanted one more doctor to sign off that the surgery was medically necessary BEFORE giving the final approval.  The paperwork from the new doctor went to the insurance company yesterday and they said that we would hear back early next week.

Everything else has progressed as expected.  Endoscopsy? Check!  EKG? Check!  Chest X-ray? Check!  Bloodwork? Check!  They found several erosions in my stomach which the GI doctor attributes to NSAID use, but they took biopsies regardless.  The EKG was normal as was the chest x-ray.  The bloodwork hasn't come back yet, but I'm not terribly concerned.  I believe that my AC1 is going to come back abnormal and again one of the reasons that I am having the surgery.

We are full swing into Girl Scout Cookie delivery time.  I picked up the boxes for my Troop on Thursday and have been helping deliver my daughters while trying to keep everyone else on track.  I haven't had a cookie yet, but I know I will sample one or two.  Each person in my family got to pick two boxes.  I've already bagged the cookies into serving sizes so when they want them for a treat, they are ready.

A great teaching moment came this week with my son.  We were watching a show on WLS and he asked me, "Will I be fat like you when I grow up?"  I said that he took after me body wise and that if he didn't practice good habits now and continue them later, he would probably be overweight like me.  We talked about how his body is completely different from his sister.  She is long, lean, and smaller boned.  She can eat ANYTHING and we have had to work on her gaining weight (we call it getting healthy - making healthy choices for her body).  I know it is frustrating for him to watch her take in so much.  We also are focusing on fitness as well as eating habits.  He is enrolled in Tae Kwon Do and goes 2-3x a week.  He works up quite a sweat!
