It was a May, 2012 morning when our youngest  moved away.  Little did I know, in less than four hours another life-changing moment was about to take place.  That afternoon, I had a medical appointment. The clinic's digital readout of my weight showed an all-time high leaving me numb with disbelief. I drove home, sat motionless for a while, then phoned a Center for Weight Management located fifty miles away.  When the employee on the other end answered, she sensed my inability to speak through the tears.  Her first words were, "try to say yes or no, can you walk?"  Yes, I could walk-- barely. The call ended with a reservation to attend a June introductory meeting.  The six-month waiting period health insurance required was a blessed time to prepare for making this giant leap of faith. RNY surgery was scheduled for November 26, 2012.  As I was being wheeled into the operating room, the surgeon bent over me and said, "this will give you fifteen more years you would have never seen otherwise."  Being freed from super morbid obesity has me owing so many people to live right, live happy, and die with peace at least fifteen more years from now, doctor's orders.
